Greta Ranonytė, Head of Fintech Hub LT in a recent Delfi Lietuva article! Lithuania's fintech sector has shown remarkable growth, now ranking 7th in Europe for business environment and fintech ecosystem, according to the European Fintech Index, recently published by ConnectPay. However, Estonia has recently surpassed us, leading the Fintech Attractiveness Index with their favourable tax environment and significant venture capital investments. As Fintech Hub LT, we see this as a call to action to enhance our strategies and improve our standing in this competitive landscape. To achieve our goal of becoming a high-value European fintech center by 2028, we must address key areas highlighted by the sector's stakeholders. Active engagement from policymakers, proportional regulation, openness to new business models, and reduced bureaucracy are essential steps. Our industry's success is already evident, with fintech companies serving 27 million EU customers and creating over 7,000 jobs in Lithuania. As we approach the upcoming parliamentary elections, it's crucial for candidates to prioritize fintech in their agendas. By fostering a supportive regulatory environment and maintaining an ongoing dialogue with industry participants, we can ensure that Lithuania not only competes but thrives in the global fintech arena.
