Trying to install

Hello, I'm trying to install mediawiki for association OFSET (see http//www.ofset.org). I get a blank page when I call index.php (see http://wikipedia.ofset.org). Some hints : - I've done the setup from command line. - if I try to call http://wikipedia.ofset.org/config, it displays a message saying that my Wikipedai is configured and I should erase /config directory for security reasons. - script seems not to pass line 51 : wfProfileIn( "main-misc-setup" ); yet it passes successfully "include" lines, such as line 39 include_once( "./LocalSettings.php" ); Can you help ? -- Odile Bénassy, développeuse de logiciels libres Odile Benassy, libre software developer gpg: 6333 33AF 1AA4 5A64 3870 33BC 4247 DC1D BDEB B4AA

Rewrite rules and .htaccess

Perhaps this isn't the place to ask this, but.... I'm having trouble getting the rewrite rules to work properly. I can access my site with: http://my.url.here/index.php/Article_name Everything works fine with the URL like this, but I want to eliminate the "index.php" part of the URL. When I change my LocalSettings.php and .htaccess (following the user guide's directions on rewrite rules) the URL rewrite happens. In other words, my browser tries to get "http://my.url.here/Main_page". BUT, this results in a "Not found" error (404). The data is still missing, but now I know that next time I need to act within two days. I might also look for another host... "Missing Image" instead of <img/>

Hello list, I have installed a mediawiki on my server to mirrow wikipedia. I am unsing the mysql dump file and I can see all articles, but i wont serve the images on my server. Every time I request a Article from my server, I get Missing Image instead of the <img/> in html code. How can I configure that, there no Warning? Protecting a section of a page?

Is it possible to protect a single section of a page? If not, is it possible to somehow display a page within another page? For instance, I would like my front page to be protected. But I would like to have an editable section on that page? Could I display the contents of an editable page in a section of my front page. Thanks, Bruce

Question re: Searching

Some of my users have run into what *might* be a bug, but seeing as how the documentation on the search function is not exactly complete, I thought I'd check here first. The problem involves the inclusion of hyphens in the search terms. For example, if I try to perform a search on the string "NX-01", I do not receive any results. I've tried doing the search both with and without the quotes. Is this a bug? Or are the hyphens automatically ignored because they're also used in regular expressions? External/non-web automated updates to mediawiki articles

Hi! At my mediawiki-site, I wish to include some articles where the content has been generated by parsing some external sources. I could of course copy & paste, but since there are quite a few articles, most of which will be updated periodically, I'd prefer to automate it as much as possible. The simple way is to create every article manually, then simply "UPDATE cur SET cur_text = 'new text' WHERE cur_title LIKE 'Title' AND cur_namespace = 0" with title and text set appropriately. However, I'd like to have "Page History" and "Special:Recentchanges" reflect the updates, so that the users can see that something has happened to these articles and what the changes are. Has anyone looked at doing something like this? Perhaps even made a utility/tool for this purpose? I searched the web and the mail-archives for this, but I may have missed stuff. Any do's/don'ts I need to keep in mind if I start making such a utility? Regards, Arne Meyer
