Abstract
The chapter assesses the output legitimacy of the IANA transition from a normative perspective. In detail, the chapter investigates whether the outputs of the process effectively achieved the intended objective, namely the transfer of the IANA functions stewardship to the Internet global multistakeholder community. Furthermore, the chapter assesses whether the new arrangements and the bylaw’s modifications made it possible to remedy the well-known limitations of ICANN governance, both in terms of institutional and outcome effectiveness.
