Winfred O’Neil Ward

Winfred (Fred) Ward of Richmond, Va. is a physician and runs the chest and tuberculosis clinics for the State of Virginia in Richmond and is an assistant professor of medicine at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. He has been active in libraries for many years and served on the Swem Library Board at the College of William and Mary for 10 years. He is a writer and novelist. Physicians for Peace is a very large part of Fred’s volunteer activities. He has been a medical missionary for the past 12 years serving in multiple foreign countries with Libya being the most recent. The men’s gymnastics team at William and Mary occupies much of his spare time as he has been the team physician for the past 26 years.
