Nancy Eaton

Nancy Eaton has a long and distinguished record as a university librarian and she is an acknowledged expert on information technology. She served as Dean of Libraries and Scholarly Communications at Penn State University from 1997-2010. Prior to coming to Penn State, Nancy served as Dean of Library Services at Iowa State University of Science and Technology. A graduate of Stanford University, she received her Master of Library Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin where she also did post-Master’s degree work under a U.S. Department of Education fellowship.

During her tenure at Penn State, Nancy was responsible for consolidating all 36 libraries at 24 locations throughout Pennsylvania into one administrative structure as well as expanding the Dean’s role to include oversight of the Penn State Press and the University’s Scholarly Publication initiatives. The University Libraries increased the number of course-related instruction sessions to several thousand per year, developed online tutorials, provided extensive online reference and integrated library services and collections into the University’s online instruction system.

Nancy resides in State College, Pennsylvania.
