Privacy on this website 🔒

I designed my website with the privacy of readers in mind. I don't want to collect any information that I do not need to serve pages on this website. This page contains some information about how I collect data on jamesg.blog.

What data this site collects

When you visit my website, a log record is registered in my server logs that contains information about your request, including your IP address and the resource you have requested. This information is saved for 14 days, after which point the log file is rotated and deleted. There is no way for me to recover deleted records. Server log data is used occasionally for debugging purposes but for no other purpose. This log data is collected by the web server software I use by default.

Cookies and analytics

My website makes use of local storage in your browser to track your preference for using light mode or dark mode. If you have local storage disabled on my site, you will not be able to toggle between light and dark mode using the button on my website.

I have not installed any analytics software on my website.

Data transfer

This website uses HTTPS to transport all information from my web server to your browser. HTTPS encrypts the data sent between a server and a browser.

Referrer link headers

This website enforces a HTTP "No-Referrer" policy. This policy tells browsers not to share that you arrived at a website from this website. If you click a link to another site from this site, that other site will not be sent a header to tell them that you arrived via my website.

Webmentions

If you send me a Webmention, you give me consent to show your comment on my website.

I display the following information when I receive a webmention:

To remove your comment from my website, you can send a Webmention deletion request to my webmention endpoint. This will be processed immediately and remove your comment from the page on which it appears. You can also email me at the address provided below and I will manually delete your webmention.

Scope

This page applies only to jamesg.blog.
