Phenomenal... the iOS platform is fast becoming an awesome place for Games... it will soon match that of a games console. Oddworld: New & Tasty, is certainly helping make that journey! This game is identical to the console counterparts. Which explains its 3.6gb download. I was a little worried about the porting of controls, but Square 1 have done a fantastic job and it’s very easy to use. I have gotten further than I did on the PS4, using the touch controls, but I have read it is compatible with MFi controllers anyway. Graphically very impressive, but get your headphones connected for the beautiful music and sound effects, which provide so much atmosphere. I have had to contact Square 1 once about a glitch, but had the fix out the very next day. (Cheers Roger) it’s £7.99 price tag is cheap for this as it provides endless hours of entertainment... which we have all come to love from the Oddworld series! It is a remake of the original story, but the game is almost completely different with lots of new areas, features and facelift. Buy it and buy it now! Sorry to all those families, as you won’t want Christmas dinner, once you get stuck into this!

More, please

From the world where things that ain’t broke aren’t fixed comes this wonderful remake of the PlayStation classic, that had us escaping mythical sludge food factories distributing our companions’ canned flesh. Gross and charming in equal measure, the original was so utterly unique that none of the non-platform sequels had anyone in any way interested... at all... and I had a huge fear that this would be a disaster of a ‘remake’ or emulator or whatever it was supposed to be. But it’s great. All of the charm of the original remains, with the control system entirely intact. Comments of caution include potential lack of appropriateness of the controls for iPad (it’s a little tricky to handle without physical controls, but many, many things are). Also, I remember the backgrounds and background detail being a little richer, so I wonder why a full 3D rework was done for this version, but it looks very nice all the same. These are minor gripes and I had great fun playing this. Huge nostalgia for me and such fun for anyone new to the franchise.

Faithful remake

This is a very high quality remake of a brilliant game from 20 years ago. My original review only gave 3 stars because I struggled with the controls and also when you die I thought you had to go back to set points. I’m changing to five stars because these issues actually don’t exist, although it’s not immediately obvious why when you first start playing. So two pieces of advice, then, to make this game brilliant: first, move the controls to where you want them and make them 2 or 3 times as big. Second: make frequent use of the quick save function - tiny icon next to pause at top left. If you do these two things then a huge and fun game awaits. IAP and advert free and actually well worth the price.
