Two years ago, we met Ritesh Srivastava, who had a vision of establishing a Debt Relief and Debt Consolidation platform for India. How many ads of individual AMCs exhorting us to do SIPs does one really remember? The branded recall of most would be really low (I have some individual estimates to corroborate this) and most brands try to push boundaries with every new campaign (like in other crowded categories). The No. 5 of #MyFive (only as per time-line) would be something we created with #FranklinTempleton many years back when SIP communication was still relatively in its infancy. Here we looked at SIPs from a lens of EMIs; how most EMIs are something we think are a huge burden and an outflow of big amounts. To be seen in a positive light, we positioned SIP as a #GoodEMI. This got us salience and also became a generic for the said transaction. Spanning two phases of a multi-media client, a highly passionate client, agency and production team did the following launch video. "ReshaMandi, a business-to-business marketplace focused on silk products, has laid off 80% of its employees after it failed to secure Series B funding, forcing the company to massively scale down its operations since last year. With a debt of more than ₹300 crore, ReshaMandi is facing court cases from lenders and vendors and some creditors are even planning to file for insolvency, said two officials privy with the development. ReshaMandi, which has raised around $70 million in equity and debt, counts Creation Investments and Omnivore as its backers. Founded in 2020, the company provides a full-stack digital ecosystem of natural fibre from farm to fashion in the agritech space. The company did not respond to ET's email query. The last funding of ₹225 crore in a equity plus debt round saw participation from Omnivore, which led the seed round of ReshaMandi, 9 Unicorns, Venture Catalysts, Sandeep Singhal of Nexus, and IndiaMART founder Brijesh Agarwal, among others. Debt investors include Northern Arc, Alteria, Innoven, and Stride Ventures. “The previous funding was at a valuation of $175 million which has come down significantly when the company tried to raise $5 million in January this year at a $25 million valuation. This drama keeps happening periodically. Unless all companies learn to pay on time (and this should not need government intervention), this vicious cycle will not stop. Paying on time is not a favour. "Seeking to ensure a timely payments for micro, small and medium enterprises, the ministry of corporate affairs has asked all companies to disclose information on payments made or overdue to such small businesses on a half-yearly basis. The move comes amid demands for a review of income tax provisions that allowed only the amount that has been cleared to be used as a deduction for expenditure by companies. The provision has split small businesses, some of whom have complained of being forced to deregister as an MSME. Ahead of the Budget, MCA has issued a new form that requires payments to all MSMEs as well as outstandings for 45 days or less or dues pending for over 45 days to be disclosed along with the reason for delay.For long, over dues have been a major concern for small businesses as they typically depend on internal generation to meet their funding requirement with only a small portion relying on bank credit. In fact, access to bank credit has been a major area of concern, which the govt is seeking to address. Apaper by ICRIER econo mists Radhicka Kapoor and Tanu Goyal has suggested that the use of digital public infrastructure has helped address a part of the problem, but the gap still remains. “The first phase of the Account Aggregator (scheme) rollout (April 2022 – Jan 2023) in India has resulted in early positive benefits to the MSME sector. Of the total loans disbursed during the period, about 38% of the unsecured business loans were disbursed to MSMEs. The AA network has lowered the cost of doing business, reduced paperwork, and enabled a quick turnaround with loans being available in 3-5 clicks in a digital process,” they said in a paper. Industry bodies have suggested several steps in the Budget to address the concerns of MSMEs. “There is a pressing need to establish a dedicated working group tasked with identifying underperforming schemes related to MSMEs. Such an initiative would systematically assess the effectiveness of current programmes, pinpointing areas where interventions are falling short in supporting MSMEs. By conducting thorough evaluations and gathering empirical data, this group can recommend targeted reforms or adjustments to policies,” said Assocham president Sanjay Nayar." https://lnkd.in/ggKVJ-Mj

When Dhruv Shah from FCB Kinnect first reached out to me for HDFC Bank's EOSS idea, I was stunned by the creativity of the idea, but I was equally concerned because we were being asked to create a deepfake of Nora, at the time when deepfakes were being look down upon! Once we were comforted that Nora is a partner in this (anti) crime, we then saw it as an opportunity for using our latest Generative AI models of Face Swapping and Voice Cloning, to raise awareness about the potential nefarious use cases of deepfakes, helping society build resilience and develop antibodies against such misuse- and I was like "Alright, let's do it!" Yes, we faced road blocks, yes we had late night meetings, but it all turned out beyond beautiful in the end, especially after this line up of awards that this campaign won: 🏆 Cannes Lions: A coveted Silver Lion in PR for Use of Events & Stunts, alongside 3 impressive shortlists! 🏆 The Abbys 2024 Goafest: We walked away with the top honor - the Grand Prix in the Use of AI category - alongside a staggering 3 Golds, 3 Silvers, and 2 Bronzes. 🏆 2024 Kyoorius Creative Awards: Adding to the recognition, the campaign secured wins in both the Experience & Engagement and Advertising categories.
