Minecraft: Microsoft Showcases In-Game Support for Players With the Copilot AI

Microsoft is adding Artificial Intelligence support to some of its Xbox and PC games such as Minecraft. Microsoft at the recent Surface and AI event showcased its new Copilot AI, which is quite unique in comparison to the other AI platforms such as Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude.

Microsoft over X (formerly known as Twitter) posted a demo video of a player using Copilot to learn how to craft and build things in Minecraft. As reported by Windows Central, this AI is designed to understand and respond to natural language, like other Language Learning Models (LLMs). Its purpose is to provide guidance on utilizing available resources and even assist in locating them. Microsoft made it clear that all data utilized by Copilot will stay on the user's device and won't be transferred to the cloud or utilized for enhancing language models unless the user grants permission.

During the event, Microsoft revealed its newest creation called 'Copilot PCs,' featuring their very own AI technology. These cutting-edge devices promise improved performance but require better hardware with at least 16GB of RAM to run smoothly. The rollout of Windows laptops equipped with AI is set to begin on June 18 . According to Windows Central, while the concept of using AI to assist players in navigating complex games appears appealing, the real-world efficacy remains uncertain. The persistent challenge of AI generating inaccurate information, commonly referred to as 'hallucinations,' has been a longstanding issue with Language Learning Models (LLMs).
