This week I was in the Pacific Northwest and spent time in Seattle visiting some of our businesses there. The city’s role as an important trading hub for many global corporations in sectors such as aerospace, information technology and retail is helping to drive economic growth and construction activity. I had the pleasure of visiting three of CRH's operating companies in the region and discussed their focus on areas such as innovation, sustainability and safety. I’m grateful for the warm welcome and wonderful hospitality I received from ICON Materials (part of our Americas Materials business), Oldcastle APG and Oldcastle Infrastructure. The teams at all three locations are doing a really great job and not surprisingly know how to make a good cup of coffee too.

This week I had the pleasure of joining my colleagues from CRH’s global leadership team on a site visit to Tunstead Quarry and Cement Works. The site is operated by our Tarmac business and is the engine room of CRH’s operational footprint in the UK. Its vast limestone reserves underpin the high-quality aggregates, cement and value-added solutions we provide to road and critical utility infrastructure projects across England, Scotland and Wales. The visit was a good opportunity to meet with some of Tunstead’s talented employees and hear about how innovation and sustainability are shaping the future of the Quarry, ensuring its 100-year tradition continues long into the future.
