Alkermes is a global biopharmaceutical company that seeks to develop innovative medicines in the field of neuroscience.
About us
At Alkermes, we apply our deep neuroscience expertise to develop medicines designed to help people living with complex and difficult-to-treat psychiatric and neurological disorders. We have a portfolio of proprietary commercial products for the treatment of alcohol dependence, opioid dependence, schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder, and a pipeline of clinical and preclinical candidates in development for neurological disorders. Our patient-inspired science, integrated research strategy, sophisticated development capabilities and specialized commercial infrastructure enable us to pursue the development and commercialization of innovative new medicines, including those for people with conditions that have traditionally been overlooked or stigmatized. Our greatest strengths at Alkermes are our people and our inherent empathy for patients, families and caregivers. Neurological and psychiatric disorders strike people at the core of who they are and impact many facets of their lives. We work with urgency to develop new treatment options for people living with these conditions. Beyond our important mission of developing medicines, we believe it is our responsibility to take a holistic approach as we seek to support patients, caregivers and broader impacted communities. We remain committed to patient engagement, responsible and sustainable operations, and equitable access to quality treatment. Headquartered in Ireland, Alkermes also has a corporate office and research and development center in Massachusetts and a manufacturing facility in Ohio. Today is #NationalInternDay! #TeamAlkermes is honored to host more than 20 interns across our US locations who are making meaningful contributions to a variety of functions across our organization. As part of our summer internship program, we partnered with Project Onramp, a national organization aimed at providing life science industry experience to students without strong existing connections to people in the industry. Earlier this month, #TeamAlkermes volunteers took part in our 16th annual “Alkermes in Action” employee-led volunteer program. This day of service is a tangible demonstration of our team’s commitment to making a real impact in the communities where we live and work. Beyond our day-to-day mission to pursue great science on behalf of people living with complex neurological conditions, we recognize that we have the opportunity to support local organizations whose values align with ours and share our dedication to making the world a better place. This year, nearly 250 volunteers from our Waltham office supported a dozen organizations in the Greater Boston area. Employees rolled up their sleeves and assembled beds for children in need, braved the heat to work on local farms, built a sensory board in celebration of #disabilitypridemonth among many more activities. Working in partnership with The Dimock Center, Casa Myrna, The Trustees of Reservations, Mass Audubon, Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, Dignity Matters, Inc., Room to Grow, Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), Pine Street Inn, Community Servings, Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Victory Programs, our team members were able to help provide meaningful support to groups making a difference in the lives of people in need across Massachusetts. At Alkermes, we are deeply committed to the idea that corporations can make a positive difference in society, and Alkermes in Action is one way #TeamAlkermes brings this belief to life every year. Thanks to all who participated this year.
