As a Privacy & Compliance Trainee you will play a vital role in helping ad-supported websites comply with their obligations under the GDPR, and explore other privacy and data protection-related topics.
Key responsibilities/Scope of work
As a Privacy & Compliance Trainee, you will report to IAB Europe’s Privacy & Compliance Manager and closely collaborate with everyone in the Privacy team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out manual and automated privacy compliance assessments on digital properties (websites, apps) across key European markets.
- Carrying our privacy compliance audits of Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) and digital intermediaries (Vendors).
- Research regarding various topics related to data protection law including enforcement actions taken by national Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) and judgements issued by national and European jurisprudence as well as associated with European digital and data strategy.
- Supporting the Team in overseeing and managing Working Groups that contribute to shaping the future evolution of the TCF (Transparency & Consent Framework TCF), helping national IABs and member companies in identifying how TCF needs to evolve in light of the developments in the personal data protection law.
- Providing support on ad hoc requests from IAB Europe members and TCF participants.
- Monitoring and interpreting new data protection laws, guidelines, opinions and industry trends relevant to the company’s operations.
- Attending meetings and taking detailed notes for follow-up actions.
About you:
To be considered for the role of Privacy & Compliance Trainee at IAB Europe, you should meet the following criteria:
- Degree in law or IT/computer science (or currently enrolled in a program to obtain a degree in one of these fields).
- Basic knowledge of EU privacy and data protection rules.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Structured and organized with an eye for details.
- Able to work autonomously.
- Fluency in English and at least 1 other EU/EEA language.
- Interest in digital advertising with the focus on privacy compliance in the digital space.
