Description

Auto correct removes the first word from a heading block if the word is misspelled.
Note: This has only been tested on Android

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

  1. Add a heading block
  2. Type a misspelled word followed by a space e.g. Headng

Expected behaviour

The word is corrected

Actual behaviour

The word is deleted

WordPress information

  • WordPress version: Latest
  • Gutenberg version: Core
  • Are all plugins except Gutenberg deactivated? N
  • Are you using a default theme: No , using "Blank Canvas"

Device information

  • Device: Pixel 8
  • Operating system: Android 14
  • WordPress app version: 23.6

@jhnstn I wonder if you could share the keyboard you used on the Android device (e.g. Gboard or Microsoft SwiftKey). I mention this because we experienced in the past issues like this that could only be reproduced with a specific keyboard.

I can confirm that this issue still exists on Android 13 on a Pixel 4a with Gboard.
