Why is DEI important? A few weeks ago, I was invited by Serena to talk to its startups about one of the key challenges for HR and companies today: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. It was a very energizing session, with a lot of smart and challenging questions! I wanted to share some of the key takeaways from this conversation, and why it’s important to implement DEI strategies from the beginning of your company’s life: 👩‍💻 Tech companies create innovative products which are used by anyone. Having employees reflect the diversity of the users will help them create better products. Thinking about hiring a representative workforce starts from the beginning! 🌈 📜 New CSRD regulation is coming: either you think DEI now, or play catch up to get compliant. ⚖️ 🌟 Working on DEI is going to help your company's reputation and attractiveness in the long run: DEI is an asset for younger candidates who value these kinds of commitments from companies. 👥 👑 Leadership support is key: if the leaders don't support DEI efforts, they will not work. 🚀 📊 Collect the data! You will need to prove your progress on hiring, promotion, and retention. 📈 DEI does not start when companies stabilise. It starts now. 5 years ago I pioneered the Part-Time CMO model in France by creating iytro. Today there are over 400 so called Part-Time CMOs in France alone and it raises some concerns for me. The reality is that not all Part-Time CMOs, especially those who self-proclaim themselves to be so on LinkedIn, are truly CMOs. How do I know? Because many of them have applied to work at iytro… and I turned them down. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Some lacked the necessary posture - working with CEOs is not always easy and the job requires you to make some tough calls. Others didn’t have the required experience or expertise - being a Part-Time CMO means being a Swiss Army knife, and that breadth of knowledge is something that comes naturally with experience. Yet they all call themselves Part-Time or Fractional CMOs on LinkedIn or Malt. 💡 But you should know being a Part-Time CMO is very different than being a CMO. Each is a unique job in its own right but that’s a conversation for another time. For me, this is diluting the market. Of course this doesn’t apply to everyone - there are a lot of great Part-Time CMOs out there, some that have even joined us as freelancers - but it does leave me wondering… Is this the new way of bringing in professional opportunities? Has the title ‘Part-Time CMO’ become a trend? The new ‘Open to Work’ LinkedIn banner? Just be aware. 🎶 I'm representing for them ‘marketers with attitude' all across the world (Still) Hitting them corners in them low-lows, Still taking my time to perfect the beat And I still got love for the growth, it's the I-Y-T-R-O 😎

What did we learn from a full day of exhibitions, workshops, and conversations? ✅ 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲. Achieving supply chain transformation and Scope 3 Net Zero targets is a team effort. You wanna know how startup funding is going on right now in Belgium 🇧🇪 ? 🔮 I shared with Maxime SAMAIN (L'Echo) my point of view on that matter. 🦄 < >🐌 Article here: https://lnkd.in/e9qbCKKX Discover my take on the situation in 4 points: 1️⃣ More experienced 🐼 Belgium's startup scene boomed around 2015. These early-stage investors, the Business Angels, have gained experience through their investments made between 2015 and 2020. This newfound expertise makes them more rigorous in their analysis and more demanding of startups, ultimately limiting funding for a select few. 2️⃣ Investment shift ↩ The 2022 inflation surge reshaped investor mindsets and expectations. This trend solidified in 2023, becoming the "new normal." Consequently, 2024 witnessed a significant decline in funding for startups lacking a clear path to profitability. 3️⃣ Cycle ♻ The pre-pandemic boom in startups (around 2020) is now experiencing its first wave of bankruptcies. This has understandably shaken some Business Angels' confidence. While this cycle is natural, fear currently dominates investment decisions for many. 4️⃣ Post trauma 🤕 We are in a “post trauma” period. The above elements are making Business Angels much more risk averse. To restore confidence, we need to see successful Belgian 🇧🇪 startups emerge. Impromptu TV appearance at Vivatech: A real-time deep dive into client challenges and AI solutions 💡🎥 Between back-to-back client meetings at Vivatech, I was unexpectedly pulled into a live TV interview on France's leading innovation channel. The topic? The very issues we're tackling with our clients, front and center on national TV. Talk about disruption! 💥 Here's a snapshot of the key points we covered: 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗢𝗖𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆: We discussed the importance of designing POCs for scale from the outset, rather than accumulating them as band-aids for existing problems. 𝗣𝗢𝗖 𝘃𝘀. 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 & 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻: I shared insights on when to conduct POCs and when to shift to a test & learn approach for maximum impact. Taking a step backward from slogans, intersectionality dogma can be compared to progressivism tenets as beautifully explained by “La beauté du Metis” half a century ago:

This week, I came across an interesting testimony in Les Echos START about Mirakl and their approach to creating an AI bilingual environment for their employees.   In this testimony, I found what I believe to be the four key pillars for adopting AI in a business environment:   🚀 Leadership Sponsorship: It's crucial for company leaders to wholeheartedly embrace AI and provide clear sponsorship. At Mirakl, the management's early belief in the transformative power of AI led them to fully reimburse ChatGPT for all their employees and provide training to their top management to drive the deployment of this new technology.   🔍 Test and Learn Mindset: Embracing a test and learn mindset is essential to reduce low-value tasks. Allowing employees dedicated time to experiment and learn, such as allocating one hour a day for three months, can significantly smooth the learning curve for any new technology.   🔮 Long-Term Approach: While testing new tools is important, it's equally crucial to prepare for the future. Establishing internal Gen AI tools to ensure confidentiality and security, along with regular meetings and keynotes, can help embed these evolutions into the company's culture for the long term.   📈 Efficiency Gain Monitoring: It's important to closely monitor the efficiency gains brought about by AI adoption. Tracking metrics such as the number of people using Gen AI and productivity gains per population or task is essential to ensure the success of these changes. At Mantu, we believe that these gains could potentially reach at least 30% if the tools are utilized effectively.   Even though we didn't directly collaborate with Mirakl to establish this environment, we have supported other companies in creating tailored frameworks, accelerating their AI adoption and even did it for ourselves.
