CSRD: not your average alphabet soup! 🍲 The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive is a European directive aimed at harmonizing data on companies' social and #environmental impact (also known as "non-financial" impact), and will come into effect in 2026 for the fiscal year 2025. Ecotone is already preparing for this change. We adopted a proactive approach and acknowledged the complex task of gathering all necessary data to comply with the directive. 💪 In 2023, we did a double materiality assessment to identify topics based on financial and impact criteria. Quality of products, packaging, ethical supply chains and wellbeing at work, were some of the topics identified. We are now in the process of updating and tracking new KPIs and will prepare a mock audit in advance of the 2026 compliance deadline! #FoodForBiodioversity

And deforestation is a major factor in climate change and biodiversity loss. By making conscious choices, consumers and brands play a pivotal role in reducing its impact. Reviving organic almond farming in Provence by supporting the #ElzardProject 🌿🌰 #Organic almond trees disappeared from Provence in the early 20th century, hindered by the almond fruit wasp, which devastates over 80% of crops. The Elzeard project aims at finding an organic, sustainable solution to managing this pest without the use of chemical pesticides which harm biodiversity. The Ecotone foundation is supporting the project since 2021 and for 5 years. A first step has already been taken with the planting and growing of a pilot orchard of 710 almond trees. 🌱 Stay tuned! #FoodForBiodiversity

This transformative journey, designed to develop our team "from managers to sustainable leaders," spans from a single day to four months, depending on the level of management, and is structured to foster personal growth and leadership excellence. Self-awareness is the cornerstone of effective leadership, and our programme ensures that each participant not only grows as a leader but also becomes a champion of sustainability. 🌍💪 #FoodForBiodiversity #Leadership

The Ecotone Foundation is also dedicated to supporting the next generation of leaders in agricultural and environmental sciences, as well as advancing understanding in nutrition and health through meaningful research collaborations 🌾 👉 Project focus: Explore the full range of health benefits associated with a diverse diet. 👉 Key objectives: This collaborative effort involves analyzing French food consumption data and health outcomes from the latest INCA3 survey. Expansion to include several European countries is on the horizon. 👉 Research impact: The findings will be rigorously peer-reviewed and published in scientific journals, alongside a comprehensive postgraduate thesis. Yet, the appetite for organic produce varies greatly across Europe! 🚀 The rapid growth of #Organic farming and consumption in the European Union is a positive development for #Biodiversity, environmental #health, farmers' health, and consumers. As we move forward, expanding organic agriculture is crucial for building a more resilient and ecologically balanced future.
