Forza Motorsport Celebrates Racing Rivalries with Nemesis Month

10 July 2024- Turn 10 Studios
Nemesis Month heats up competition with the arrival of Proximity Radar and new events all about automotive battles!

Update on 7/10/2024 at 11:00 AM PT: After resolving an issue with today's update, we will be releasing all Update 10 content, features and fixes simultaneously in one download. This will be rolling out later today.

Forza Motorsport Update 10 will be released in two phases. The first download includes the car and event content, as well as minor improvements to Catalunya and Hockenheim, an additional wing option for 18 cars, and Replay UI changes. This will be followed by a second download – release timing to be confirmed as soon as details are available – that includes the remaining features and fixes for Update 10, most notably the Car Proximity Radar, and for PC players, an option to disable TAA and an updated VRAM estimator.

Great competitors bring out the best of each other, and especially their cars, on the racetrack. Experience famous manufacturer rivalries with Nemesis Month in Forza Motorsport!

In addition to new events across Career, Multiplayer and Rivals that showcase intense racing rivalries, Forza Motorsport Update 10 introduces Car Proximity Radar, Replay UI improvements, the Big Country Labs aero wing option for select cars, and splits the Forza GT Spec Series in Featured Multiplayer into Forza GT2 and Forza GT3.

Our friends at Gillette, Logitech G and Mobil 1 also have a calendar of intense Featured Rivals that will be open for participation throughout Nemesis Month!

Experience Improvements

A new Proximity Radar helps identify cars in your blind spots, making it easier to avoid unintentional collisions and keep the racing clean, especially when using cockpit, hood, or bumper cameras. Enable and adjust options for Car Proximity Radar in Settings under Gameplay & HUD, where you can also choose which HUD location works best for you. We would love to hear your feedback about this highly requested feature on the Suggestions Hub to help inform future iterations.

There are also improvements to saved race replays. In this update, Replay includes a new vertical driver list to more easily select the car on focus, a new track map, HUD visibility options, and navigation improvements for mouse and keyboard users. A major Replay update will soon follow, adding dynamically updated race positions and data to the driver list, as well as a lap counter and new camera types.

Additionally, the VRAM Estimator in PC settings has been made more accurate. Players should review their settings after Update 10 is downloaded to verify that they’re not using too much VRAM. This is particularly true for players with GPUs that have 4-8 GB of VRAM because some settings can push usage over the limit.

Finally, there is now an option to disable TAA completely on PC. This option is for players who prefer to use their own form of driver-level anti-aliasing. Find the new setting in the Display tab.

Game Fixes and Release Notes

Update 10 rolls out for download starting Wednesday, July 10 at 10:00 AM PT / 5:00 PM UTC on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam. Spotlight cars and new in-game events also begin on Wednesday, July 10 starting at 5:00 PM PT (12:00 AM UTC on Thursday, July 11).

We have fixed an issue where shift times could be slightly different based on your PC’s FPS refresh rate. The Forza Motorsport community was extremely helpful in providing data that allowed us to home in on the problem. We had an issue in our code where our shifting state machine was not being updated in our inner-most simulation update code. We moved the shifting state machine to the inner-most (high frequency) part of our update, as well as ensuring that our high-frequency update is running at a consistent frequency across various framerates on PC. We were able to run automated benchmark code to time our cars 60-150MPH at various framerates and framerate ranges – with and without the fix – to validate the problem and the fix.

Below is a snapshot of the fixes in Update 10. Head on over to Forza Support to find the full release notes:

  • Numerous fixes to Catalunya address object popping, missing geometry on the rumble strip, a ghosted sign across the overpass, and an invisible collision.
  • Numerous fixes to Hockenheim address object popping, a misaligned concrete barrier and collision, and low-resolution vegetation across the track.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash while changing tabs quickly in the "Find Designs" menu. [1755263]
  • Fixed an issue causing some players to disconnect after finishing a Featured Multiplayer race. [1723933]
  • Improved AI merging smoothly into/out of pit lanes [1775509]
  • Fixed an issue causing RPMs to momentarily spike higher than expected when downshifting. [1770765]
  • Fixed an issue causing unintended camera shake when understeering. [1771739]
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when selecting a car in multiplayer races. [1774574]

Manufacturer Rivalries in the Nemesis Tour

In Career Mode, the Nemesis Tour celebrates some of the most infamous automotive rivalries including Rally Rivals, Grand Prix Grudges, Hybrid Holy Trinity, and Endurance Legends. Across these four series, you will experience fierce competition with multiple Spotlight cars throughout each week of the Nemesis Tour.

Step behind the wheel of your favorite Mitsubishi Lancer or SUBARU WRX in Rally Rivals. These rugged cars maintain high speed and ferocious grip even in harsh environments. Newly added to the Showroom with Update 10, the 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GSR entered the rally scene mid-way through the 1995 WRC Championship. Tommi Makinen won the WRC Drivers title with 6 podium finishes and 5 victories in 1996 with the car finishing 2nd in the Constructors title.

Discover the fierce battles and tense relationships between marquee manufacturers competing for the world stage like Ferrari, McLaren, Lotus, and BRM with their Formula 70s machines in Grand Prix Grudges. Here you can choose between a duo of classic and racing-ready Spotlight cars: the 1976 Ferrari #1 Scuderia Ferrari 312 T2 and 1976 McLaren #11 Team McLaren M23.

In Hybrid Holy Trinity, you will race three iconic cars that marked the beginning of the modern hybrid hypercar era, with instant torque from EV motors adding more power to already high-performance engines. The 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder uses its hybrid system to boost performance with the highest confirmed range of the 3 cars at 420 miles. Meanwhile, the 2013 McLaren P1 differentiates its hybrid with the ability to change the rear wing angle and instantly add power. Closing out this trio, the 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari is the only one of the 3 cars to opt for a V12 instead of a V8, allowing it to accelerate to 950 horsepower!

Finally, face off against the cars built to deliver top performance and constant reliability for the longest racing stints in Endurance Legends. Spotlight cars include two of the greatest competitors in motorsport history, the 1966 Ford #2 GT40 Mk II Le Mans and 1966 Ferrari #24 Ferrari Spa 330 P4.

Pick your side and complete all four series in the Nemesis Tour to receive the 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR and enter it into the Reward Showcase to experience its incredible capabilities! Your competitors will include a trio of limited-edition supercars, the 1997 McLaren F1 GT, 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion, and 1999 Lamborghini Diablo GTR.

Series within the Nemesis Tour do not have to be completed in a particular week – you have until August 28, 2024, to finish this latest Featured Tour. Spotlight cars are available at a discount for the week during which they are featured.
