  3. I've had an idea for scrolls, and how they might be improved. The idea comes from the scene where Alduin is seen being sent forward through time, when the ancient Nord reads from the Elder Scroll. This same animation is used by the Moth Priest in Dawnguard. Scrolls, as they are now, grant a spell for a period of time and are then destroyed. After the spell included in a scroll is aquired, the scroll becomes useless. I, personally, have never found use for them. I also recently came across a mod that features scrolls (and books) as wearable items, and I had an idea for the Scrolls being taken off the place they are kept and being visibly used with the scroll-reading animation: The scroll would still function as a magic based weapon, using the aforementioned scroll-reading animation. The first thing that came to mind was to use it like a staff, but that seemed like it would look a bit stupid (carrying a book in your hand while swinging a sword sounds a little plausible, but a scroll would be too fragile to handle constantly in battle). So, the thought occurred to have it as an ability granting object, like the Ahzidal's Ring of Arcanna, that activates like a power with the Z key. However, that would require going into the menu or favorites menu to select it, and there is already a lot of things queued for the Z key. So perhaps it could be mapped to another key, the F Key, which currently allows the player to take a look around the character while the weapons are drawn. Just a quick reassignment, and the Scrolls can be quickly used. Suggested action process is a bit complex; hit the proposed F key, and an instant targeting effect is used, like Reanimation spells (so if you miss you target, you don't bring out the scroll and nothing happens). Once a target is selected, the player uses the following animation; the character reaches behind themselves to grab the scroll with the left hand. If during combat, you have a shield equipped or a weapon in the left hand, the scroll is still used as normal without disappearing any items, allowing full weapon/equipment use (you will simply have the shield on you arm as you read behind, or the sword will still be in your hand while you use the scroll). Once taken out from behind, it is held in front and 'read out'. The target is then affected by the spell of the scroll. There are two types of scrolls, kept in two different locations on the body: Small Scrolls are kept behind on the left, in a small leather pouch that is in the same general spot as crossbow bolts, but a little lower (or higher) so as to avoid clipping. Large Scrolls are kept on the back in the same general area as the vanilla bow placement, but slanting down from the left shoulder to the right hip. I have no suggestions on how to avoid clipping with that. The spells work like Curses (I confess, I take insiration from Harry Potter here...): Obedience – Targets up to level<mag> will submit to you for one command. Press ‘E’ to assign task. (You can order the target around like a follower, but only for one command, which it will do for 60 seconds or until task completion. Perhaps this could be scripted to not count as an attack? Or would that be broken?). Pain – Targets up to level<mag> will be brought to their knees for 15 seconds, suffering <mag>pts<element> damage. Haunt – For 60 seconds, the target is swarmed by apparitions that attempt to tear out the targets soul for <mag> chaos damage (soultrap that does damage). Possession – For 60 seconds, the target is harassed by a spirit trying to regain a mortal vessel, driving them mad. 30% chance for the target to be possessed and bound to you (Fury that has a chance to instantly turn the target into a zombie). Thwart – For 60 seconds, the area targeted will be impassable. If cast on targets up to level <mag>, they will be enveloped and suffer drowning damage (my idea is the eerie blue arua from the College of Winterhold Wells, stemming up from the floor, two meters wide and three meters high. It could be used to trap a target and damage them, yes, but it could also be used to block a path to allow you to retreat without being pursued, something that sounds handy for long range strategy. As for the trapping feature, it doesn’t work on undead, atronachs, or machines). Frailty – For 60 seconds, target does x% less damage (good for indirect combat). Vitality Siphon – For 60 seconds, the target’s Health regeneration is decreased by x%, and yours is increased by x%. Stamina Siphon – For 60 seconds, the target’s Stamina regeneration is decreased by x%, and yours is increased by x%. Magika Siphon – For 60 seconds, the target’s Magika regeneration is decreased by x%, and yours is increased by x%. (For these, I knew that it was pretty much mandatory to HP/MP/SP spells, but I didn't want to go with what had already been done; leeching their <atb> to restore your <atb>. Instead, decrease their regeneration, of said <atb>, so they can still regenerate but at a slower rate, while you regenerate faster) Finally, I don't want this to be a spam item; just target every enemy with Pain or Thwart, and you win easy. So I started looking up 'cooldown' effects, and I found the following (it's copy and paste, I ); Cooldown function: Easier to just use CK, and leave scripts alone. -For example lets say you want to make a spell heal 30 HP and have cooldown of 10 seconds. -Create a new magic effect with "Dummy" archetype and set it to 'fire and forget'. -Create your new spell and add the healing effect and also add this dummy effect. Set duration of dummy effect 10 seconds and in conditions of spell add "Not have magic effect". Now your dummy effect will act as a cooldown effect for your spell. So, cooldown effect starts as soon as you press the assigned key, and lasts regardless of whether or not you hit you target (so don't miss, and don't use on a target that might be too high in levelling for the scroll). Cooldown could last 40 seconds, or whatever sounds reasonable. Also, if charges could be applied as well as a Magika cost, that would be a good touch.   5. Hey there! I'm having some issues regarding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The game is constantly stuttering/lagging despite me having hardware that's more than capable of running the game near, if not on max settings. (At least according to the official system requirements) I have a Asus notebook with these specs: Intel Core i5-5200U - 2.20 GHz 4 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M - 2 GB Windows 10 (64 bit) Does anyone have any clues as to why this stuttering/lagging occurs? I had a much weaker PC just a year ago and it was able to squeeze more fps out of Oblivion than this notebook, so I'm quite clueless. Cheers!
  6. Title says it all. Been playing Enderal and wanted to play Skyrim with the same teleport system. Googled and searched here at the Nexus for what I was looking for, but I was not able to find anything that suited me. Things were close, but most of the mods were tomes, or just a teleport that brought up a menu to select where to go. See image: Needs: No tomes, scrolls only All major Cities Wants: Common scrolls: Every City Rare scrolls: Useful/Unique places such as High Hrothgar, Mage's College, etc. (not needed) Mark/recall system that is also in Enderal (again not needed, can be found in other mods) Feel free to comment in anyway.

What I mean by this is that when I let go of the analog stick (I play with controller) and I'm running backwards by using the 360 degrees mod I would want my pc to stay facing that direction, and that i would like for every direction ofc.   9. First of all, hello all, I've been very patient about this but now that the last DLC is out there is something I would really like, a compass. Basic compass - take away minimap, leave NSEW. Advanced Compass - Follow the likes of Skyrim with the Skyrim bar showing which way you are facing. Possibilities include what you would normally have on the minimap, only in this different style; markers of all sorts etc. Any of these would be so much appreciated the minimap just breaks the immersion so much, and surely it can't be too hard with the mods people are producing now? This would really make my day/week/month. I'll be spending a lot of time on this and hopefully if people like it you could port it over to new versions of the game for more renown? Here is the thought have you ever thought of the possible potential of the spider scrolls from Skyrims dlc Dragonborn there many ways for this feature to expand by creating more spiders some examples are maybe a blood spider or dragon spider or maybe something to do with the elemental spells mods that opens up a whole new breed like water spiders rock spiders etc. there is so much potential with these spiders maybe even hybrids like a dragonfly spider or something and the recipe be something like albino spider pod and a butterfly or something and it shoots some sort of projectile I hope someone takes advantage of, so my mod request is more spider scrolls to expand the imbuing and use of the spider scrolls. please excuse my run on sentences and nonsense if anyone has any ideas message me or respond
  11. I've been playing Skyrim and modding for some time now, but just recently have I started with the Creation Kit. The reason I chose to start now is because of a new character I've created. I've been toying with the idea of subversion characters, who take the stereotype associated with their race and tear it apart. An example would be a pacifist mage Orc, who travels Skyrim and attempts the help the people of the country with minimal bloodshed. The character I'm working on right now is a High Elf who is unable to use spells, since she can't regenerate her magicka. However, she has a different ability: she can recharge enchanted items with little more than her touch. As a result, she relies on her cunning and creativity by smithing Dwarven Constructs, creating and using staves, and finding scrolls to supplement her inability to cast spells. The character is still very much a mage, unable to use weapons bigger than a dagger, but I have run into a slight problem. While she can use alteration magic through staves or scrolls, there are no staves that can form wards (and having a scroll for wards is really annoying). So, I decided to dive into the world of mod creation, rather than usage. tl:dr; character uses staves and scrolls but they are very limited So my question is simple; I have managed to apply the three ward spells as enchantments on restoration staves, but I am not sure what to do now. Should this be applied to the Skyrim.esp, or the Dragonborn.esp, since I want to be able to craft these new staves? Additionally, how would one go about adding new spells (like the ones from Apocalypse) and forming staves from those, or scrolls? Is there anyway to make scrolls craftable at arcane enchanters?
  12. I'm looking at starting a new play through of Skyrim with the requiem mod, and was hoping to use a spellsword type character that focuses on out of combat magic (enchanting, alchemy, etc.). I'm wondering if someone might be able to create a mod that allowed the spells in requiem to be crafted on scrolls, as I was hoping to rely on them somewhat during this playthrough.

So I'm making this post as a last attempt to get any help, I've been frustratingly googling info and tips on how to fix my problem but it seems this is a VERY unique problem as I can't seem to find it anywhere. So recently, I uninstalled skyrim completely, no mods, directory was gone. I reinstalled it and got all my mods back etc and the only thing left was to install my ENB. That's when my problem occured, no matter what I attempted, nothing can get past my error. Whenever I try launching SKSE with ENB, an error pops up saying "Couldn't inject DLL". I've tried EVERY fix I could find in google from the June 2010 download, Xbox overlay, injector enb, nothing has worked at all. I don't want to revert back to Win 8.1 but if I must then so be it. I just want to find a way to fix this very rare problem of mine before having to do the "last resort" of reverting back. Thanks in advance! :smile:

  15. Every download of the Skyrim Script Extender takes me to http://skse.silverlock.org/. This page is white and has a little text on it. There's no buttons, My computer doesn't start downloading anything, I can't click anything. This page is featureless and useless. I can upload screenshots if necessary. How can I get the SKSE without this website? Or how can I otherwise make this website work? I'm frustrated to the point of going postal. Please help.

  17. My favorite TES game is definetly TES-4 Oblivion just because I loved the main questline, and all the side quests I played. Of course I never finished everything in the game. I could have explored 100 dungeons and know that there were hundreds more to explore and clear later on! Never been so Immersed in a game like I was with Oblivion! :) Whats your favorite TES game?
  18. OK, first of all, know that I have Daggerfall but never completed it (wow, diseases in this game are deadly). However, in canon, what happens to the Hero of Daggerfall in the end? I've heard in some circles that the Hero dies at the end, but it appears much more vague than what happens to the Hero at the end of the other main games (Arena, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim). Is this true? The main reason that I ask is because I've heard that Battlespire was originally meant to be an expansion to Daggerfall, so for RP's sake, would it be canon to have my Battlespire character based off of my Daggerfall character (obviously, this would make no sense if the Hero of Daggerfall dies in canon)?

I notice that dark elves in Battlespire (and some in Daggerfall: http://uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Helseth) have brown skin and red eyes, rather than gray skin and red eyes, which more closely matches a lot of other fantasy lore for dark elves. In Skyrim, I often use mods to make my dark elf characters brown-skinned. And then, there are a couple dark elves even in vanilla Oblivion that had this skin color: http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Arvin_Dalvilu which appears to be a blend of brown and green. I don't see that in other fantasy lore. Don't over-interpret it. Just making some observations.
  20. I could have really posted this in any of the Elder Scrolls sub-forums, but given that this one appears the most active, I will do it here. This is a serious question, and I'm not asking for screenshots or anything, just game names. Outside of modding, are Daggerfall and Battlespire the only 2 Elder Scrolls games to have official, in-game nudity? I don't mean implications of nudity. I mean stuff that you actually see.
  21. Uh... I think that this is a similar glitch to what killed my Oblivion game, but enough reminiscing. Anyway, after months of doing other things, I decided to get back into Skyrim. Upon doing so, I realized that everything was out of date, so after a couple days of updating and reinstalling stuff (yeah, thanks, NMM), everything looked good on paper. Because there were several mods that require complete reinstallation, instead of just updating, I figured that my old saves were now unusable, and I had them deleted. However, upon starting a new game, after a few seconds of Alduin on a word wall, my game crashed. I know that one of reasons for games crashing on the Bethesda logo is because of missing masters. However, mine crashes on the initial loading screen. When loading up the game with SKSE, I got a message saying that TESVAL.dll is not designed to run on Windows or contains an error, but Skyrim still started up, so I paid it little mind. I have Fair Skin Complexion installed, so it might be that my computer cannot handle it, but I have since used Optimizer Textures to at least resize textures greater than 2048. This was usually enough. Still, this might even be a moot point because Fair Skin Complexion only affects females, and there are only male characters at the opening scene, such as Lokir, Ralof, and Ulfric (if one of the Legionnaires is female, then I wouldn't know). The issue lies with gauntlets and boots, which should not be modded. Also, I'm using Fair Skin Complexion textures with Optimizer Textures, if that helps.
