  1. I recently got into modding and just tried to make my first item; a playable version of the Fighters Guild wall shield decoration. I was able to separate the model from the swords, made it the correct size, and gave it the texture from the actual decoration object (I copied the textures and made a new directory for them under "Armor" in textures). For some reason though whenever I go into the CS and create a new item and click my .nif file in "WorldModel" and "Male Biped Model" I get the error that states "Invalid Directory". Does anyone know how I could possibly fix this? My mesh is under "Oblivion/BSA Commander/bsacmd/meshes/armor/mymod" and my texture is under "Oblivion/BSA Commander/bsacmd/textures/armor/MyMod".

  3. I hate when fans try to excuse a company's lazy behavior. For example: (Quote from the UESP Wiki). Imperial Law is only the Shivering Isles justice system because the developers thought creating an entirely new system based on madness would have been costly in terms of engine changes. So inexplicably Sheogorath is suddenly fair, punishing theft and murder. His realm should have been CHAOS incarnate. Trials are supposed to be insane. In some cases criminals should have been rewarded, in others, they should have been punished in creative ways. Copying the justice system from tamriel is an oversight, though I'm sure many people will justify this by coming up with plausible excuses such as "Look, maybe the laws were like that because Sheogorath was about to turn into Jyggalag, and thus he became more orderly". It's a nice excuse... a very nice one. But I can't do it. I know the real reason. The Shivering Isles has 14 side quests and 17 chain quests from the Main Story. I only liked three out of the 14 side quests: Vitharn, The Great Divide and the Museum of Oddities. Everything else is *trash*. Fetch quest after fetch quest after fetch quest. Bethesda's specialty. And then there's the SI Main Quest, which was amazing. You could argue that back in 2006 Bethesda still made some considerable effort toward their main content (i.e, the Guild Quest chains such as the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Arena [simple but fun], Mages Guild [Fun until the Voldemort clone appeared] etc. I'm not giving that merit to the Fighters Guild, because it's one of the most deplorable, lazy and stupid questlines ever written). The Knights of the Nine expansion is also pretty good and worthy of playing or replaying. But the rest ISN'T. The Shivering Isles was delivered to us as a fraction of what it could have been. The Lore is generally interesting, the Dungeons are kind of fun to conquer, the Oblivion Gates are interesting thematically and aesthetically, Vaermina's plane of nightmares is one of the most amazing in theory, but the Realm of Madness is without a doubt the best concluded idea for a setting they ever had. I find myself in a position where I acknowledge what we really got and feel happy about it, and also find myself looking at the true potential - and feeling sad for it. What would it be like if the NPCs weren't stupid but really mad? What if the demented were really intelligent and the worst psychos to ever grace the earth (sexually deranged, calculating, deceiving the player into complex ways)? What if the manics went really crazy with their imagination? What if the DLC had more side quests that were BETTER WRITTEN and way more imaginative (and mad), instead of the rushed two to four dialogue plot we got? Even the Shivering Isles MQ had room for improvement, though I admit it's a great questline (8.5/10). It's a few steps short from extraordinary (each step to the top takes a lot of extra effort), but at least it's something you can replay excited when revisiting the game. Another problem I have with the SI expansion is that there is nothing to do after you become the Madgod. There's no endgame content. An expansion in one of the few games where it's interesting to become a god deserved a huge free patch full of quests that would make you feel as one of the top tiers of the verse (the daedric princes). You also have no power by the way. Jygallag leaves you and if you don't mod your game or give yourself real power though cheats, you're the same adventurer you were. At least Bethesda made several NPCs recognize you as sheogorath, even though that's a small detail when you consider the ES Lore and how the game should have treated you. A couple of long and exciting post-game quests as a daedric god with challenges among the other gods (such as the Aedric gods or the other Princes) would have realized that potential. Gods fight their peers, and it would have been more than enough to "keep the game challenging from a gameplay perspective". But that requires passion. If the gaming industry - led by an interest in profit - would allow the devs to be more passionate about their works, these ideas would be commonplace. The devs would "feel" their games and think of ways to improve them beyond their initial scope. It's obvious these improvements have to end at some point, but I think we would be getting longer, better and way, way more interesting games. The only devs I think of now (2024) that are passionate or somewhat passionate about their works are the Indies.
  4. As the title suggests, it appears the mod has a severe performance bug. To more specific, when enemies are alive and wandering the interior of the ruins the framerate tanks. But when they're dead, the framerate is stable once again. Like, some skeletons and corpus infected monsters attacked my character and were dispatched. But two of the skeletons re-animated themselves and the framerate starting going down again. Is it possible to fix this? This was tested in the Ruins of the Marukhati Library.

Oblivion Rebirth+ Collection Hello i was wondering if anyone could help me with an error im getting when downloading mods in vortex, ive tried searching up the error on google and only found an outdated form on reddit that has no fix. i’m getting an error saying “network connect was not permitted, check firewall settings” i’ve added vortex to all my antivirus applications and windows defender firewall but still getting the error. i’ve restarted vortex multiple times to see if refreshing it will help but it hasn’t changed anything

Hello everyone, here's the thing: at some point i realize that sometimes (almost every time) dead npc's or creatures are stuck in pre-death animation, whether it's walking, talking or something else. The corpse make noises (goblins screaming and groaning for example) and its arms, legs and face parts are moving. When i reload save - it disappears on dead actors, but it happens again when someone dies.   7. The thing is i'm trying to make my amber mace attached to hip as an accessory. I have a piece of equipment already existing in the game, and here's what i'm doing: i'm just duplicate armor piece (that is already existing in the nif) and then replacing it's NiTriShape data with the one from the amber mace nif. It looks alright in the NifScope, textures are showing up correctly, but when i'm equipping that modified accessory in game, the mace textures are stretching out all over the place. What am i missing? Please help!
  8. After much tweaking and tinkering, I've finally managed to pull off a nice combo with ENB + Oblivion Reloaded (e3 version). Good, consistent non-buggy modern visuals that's also great for gameplay. Though one problem has always eluded me and I can never find out if there is any possible solution going forward; a lot of post processing get's filtered out or blocked by 2d sprites alpha mesh. I'm no mod developer, so to explain to the best of my ability: sprites for things like fires, light rays, spiderwebs, a few spell effects, etc. seem to be just a square mesh with an alpha channel and the texture drawn on top. This looks completely flawless without any graphics mods, but when post processing is introduced, especially ambient occlusion, the illusion is completely broken and the outline of the mesh is shown at certain angles. Is it at all possible to fix the sprites, akin to cutting out the alpha part of the mesh (make them true two sided sprites....if that's a thing)? Or to somehow make alpha channels ignore post processing? (Oblivion reloaded shadows have an alpha setting for instance, which correctly casts shadows off of the textures that are drawn on top of the alpha channel) I wouldn't mind taking the task on myself. But I don't have any dev experience or education at all, and don't want to go on a goose chase without knowing if it's possible. Thanks for reading.

  10. Hi, if there already is a topic about this let me know. I couldn't seem to find anything on the subject and I apologise beforehand for the bad english. I'm just about to finnish Greg Keyes book lord of souls wich takes place in cyrodiil after the oblivion crisis, great book 10/10. And now I'm wondering if there is any mods that are based on the book? I searched around a little but didn't find anything. And also; is this something others would be interrested in aswell? I'm thinking that one could do a mod request if more people would like to see mods based on the book. EDIT: It just accured to me that this is copyrighted material, so maybe it would be a bad idéa to make any content based on it?
  11. So I installed Oblivion without any mods and opened the game. The first thing that bothered me was the main menu music did not play but the sounds were working. When I click new game and go to the Character Creation screen the games FPS gets stuck at 1. Specs are not the issue for me and I installed the latest driver for Realtek Audio. I went into the ini and changed bDSoundHWAcceleration to 0 and had the same result. I then changed bMusicEnabled to 0 and the game runs fine. I searched around the internet and came across a solution that required InstalledCodec. Did as instructed, disabled all codecs that did not have Microsoft or Fraunhofer in the name and nothing has changed. I also tried going to the AC3Filter Config and attempted to check Use Wave Out by default under the Default audio renderer tab from another solution online but it cant be selected for some reason. Another post said to use Hardware acceleration in DxDialog but I do not see it anywhere. I also Reinstalled the game multiple times and deleting the oblivion ini directory folder all together does the same thing. I also checked the integrity of the game files and the same results. I really do not know what else to do and this whole process has been very frustrating. I can play the game without music but I really do not want to do that because I enjoy the soundtrack.   12. Wondering if anyone could port the Face to Face Conversation mod from Oldrim that used the oblivion style zoom feature when talking to people which allows you to better connect with them in skyrim because your are often standing 1-2 m from the person you are talking to.
  13. the game Doki Doki literature club gave me an idea for a mod for games like elderscrolls or falloutmaking a "virus" mod that infects the game with a single character. basically mentally f*#@ing with you. lets say one moment you're going into a bar and you talk to this girl who seems to be really REALLY into you. about how you're not like all these others. she talks about 4th wall breaking. actually using the name you use in your computer so most people put in The first name then last name to show that this is their computer. so she'll go into your directory and tread your first name and say. You're name isn't (name you picked in game) it's actually (reads your information saying your first name in the computer)when you leave her in your travels you'll see her every now and then. maybe put a 15 minutre counter that makes her spawn on for a few seconds to watch your character before teleporting out.maybe at one point she turns all the npc's faces in game to hers and her voice. the only way to make that part stop is to turn off the game and turn it back on to fix it. so I got this idea last night after finishing Doki Doki Literature Club. the game was absolutely mind f*#@ing. so why not make a mod about her. I personally have no idea on how to make mods or even get them started but if someone is a pro at making mods then maybe they can make my child come to life. I'd want the mod to be on either fallout 3, 4, or new vegas. or if you can get it on skyrim or oblivion. whatever you can do. the project will be called "Hello? Can you Hear me?" it wont be a quest mod it'll most likley be a mod that is just for fun that gives you that creepy feel of "is she watching me right now?" if anyone has an idea about making this idea come to reality please let me know. I dont' know if it's possible but I'd like to see it tried out. the Rouge AI will call herself Amy.

  16. I cant download a single thing manually (which is a big issue for Oblivion because NMM isn't very good at handeling older games). Every time I try to manually download a file I get the 403 Forbidden error. The entire website is block off because of this stupid error. I started modding Oblivion but about 5 mods in I got error 403, so I searched online for solutions, and cleared my browser cache which worked for about 5 more mods, then error 403 came back with a vengeance and I tried removing plugins and clearing my browser cache again, even saw a suggestion to try incognito mode. Nothing is working now. I've been trying for hours. :down: I tried again the next day and I can download stuff again, so if you have this problem I suggest you just wait - which sucks, but I don't have any other ideas.
  17. Alright so in Oblivion, you went into the staff shop in the Imperial City, you could buy or steal a staff that was one of the best non player made staves. Apotheosis, It dealt 33 damage of Fire, Ice, and Electricity. It was always fun to steal if at the beginning of the game and romp around Oblivion blasting everyone with it. I would love to see a mod maker recreate this staff for Skyrim SE, but rather then 33 damage, having it deal 50 damage per element.   18. Hello everyone. I have a problem with mission "Breaking The Siege Of Kvatch". Everytime i wanna enter the castle gate area, the game crashes, also when i wanna enter the area where are kvatch soilders are waiting for me to open a gate. Am using mods, i tried to enter area without using mods but game crashes on startup. Am using Mod Manager for mods, and LOOT for sorting. These two areas are only areas that are crash for me, so when i try to leave a Kvatch city it does without crash.I know i can play without finishing this mission but i want to finish this quest.. (Sry for my bad English). And yeah i have edited oblivion.ini file. And if you dont understand what am talking i gonna record a video.   21. Hi all Recently, Skyrim stopped working for me. Not sure why, looked around for solutions but none worked yadayada so I gave up. Instead, I thought I'd get back into Oblivion. Little issue though... For some reason, when I try to launch Oblivion, I get the startup menu where the game automatically senses your hardware and then set settings accordingly. But once I click the play button, the game crashes. Almost always. The game doesn't recognize my hardware so it automatically sets it to medium, but knowing my computer can handle ultra, I set it to ultra. And once again the game crashes. I have managed to get it to work once or twice but it's just completely random when it works and when it doesn't. I've tried removing the Oblivion folder in /mygames but it hasn't worked so far. It's really really weird because 9 times out of 10 the game will crash but sometimes it works - but only with medium settings. I'll start the game and it will work but when I close it down and start it the exact same way again it'll crash. I'd also like to point out, I'm trying to get it to work with OBSE but the game will crash even without it so I doubt that's the issue. Any help at all is appreciated, thanks.
  22. Hello everybody, I would like to know something about the “Redecoration by Uberspeedo” mod, which is here, in this link: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/24498/. It is a mod that allows very precise item placement. According to the description, it is activated ingame with a spell, so the question is, does casting this spell makes one of your magic-derived skills increase? I'm using right now a character that doesn't focus on magic, and I know it is a bit of a waste to have other skills increased instead of the ones you use to enhance your attributes when you level up after resting.   23. Salutations, everybody! Recently I decided to install Oblivion again on my new computer, along with all of my favourite mods, but after I finally finished downloading them, cheking the order in LOOT and Wrye Bash and all that, now I'm simply unable to load Oblivion to the menu screen. The Bethesda logos go fine, then the Oblivion gate logo and the loading starts, it goes for a little while (changes to the different picture with a tip) and then loading stops, or, rather, "goes on forever", for at least 30 minutes, something definitely abnormal. Neither Wrye nor Loot show anything wrong except for some plugin cleaning issues. Could those be the reason for ubnormal loading? Or is it just an issue with big plugins (like Hammerfell and Better Cities) that forces them to load longer, and I just have to leave my PC for awhile during the first start? Here's my mod loading order list. Perhaps I've overlooked some incompatibility? Can't figure it out - the game just won't load past the first "tip picture", no messages of errors, nothing. If anybody could help, I'd really appreciate it. Active Mod Files:
  24. I am having some pretty bad trouble with my mods (Using Oblivion on Steam). I have enabled: Darnified UI 1.3.2 HUD Status Bars 5.3.2 Oblivion Reloaded 1.0 Quarl TP3 Oblivion Character Overhaul V2 And I think that's about it This is what I have done, multiple times Verify Integrity of Game Files Uninstall Mods (In which uninstalling Darnified causes the game to crash as soon as it gets to the bethesda logo at the start) Remove Oblivion_default.ini (Oblivion.ini, changed its name because of Oblivion Reloaded, I presume) Check my FOV in default.ini (It is 75.0000) Reinstall Darnified with custom fonts enabled and disabled Change the HUD scale on the Darnified config to 100 (Not ingame, on the xml) Reinstalled Oblivion (Took three hours, I know, I have slow internet) I may have done some of these stuff wrong, like checking my FOV, but I don't think I did it wrong I've done some other stuff to try and fix it and reinstalling doesn't do anything and I had to delete my saves to do so. The menu for oblivion is now really small, so is the load game menu screen and the cursor doesn't work correctly; the cursor doesn't select the icon in my inventory, it is selecting the icon to the right or above so I need to move it a bit to the left, down, up or right. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks
