  1. Well, i'm trying to edit some mods using GECK, but i cant simply make it render anything, from maps to character heads, everytime it falls with this error: File: c:\_Fallout3\Platforms\Common\Code\BSShader\BSShaderManager.cpp Line: 1996I tried both pure geck 1.5 and Geck powerup, both fails equally. According to some answers i found here and on Reddit it can be caused by having a laptop with a dedicated video card. In fact i have, but its a Radeon, and the only guides for potentially fix that are for Nvidia-based cards. I've tried poking around geckcustom.ini, setting bUse Shaders to 0 makes this error appear right at startup, while on 1 (default) at least i can edit other aspects without previewing nothing. Also i have Windows 10 1803, tried several compatibility methods, always fail. So, how can i fix that?
  2. Hi! I'm trying to make a plugin to override some presets using some celebrities faces, but fo3edit wont allow me to paste the full strings into the .esp. For example, when i try to paste the following geometry string: C9 76 7E BF 77 BE 8F BF 25 06 01 BF CF F7 A3 BF CF F7 5B 40 6F 12 23 BF 93 18 84 BE 52 B8 AE BF A8 C6 03 40 F0 A7 66 3F 77 BE 1F 3F 19 04 16 BF 73 68 91 3E 3B DF 6F 3F FC A9 09 C0 3D 0A B7 3F 2F DD A4 BE 19 04 56 3E A0 1A EF 3F B4 C8 86 BF 64 3B DF 3D BE 9F 8A 3F 75 93 78 3F 0C 02 BB 3F C3 F5 E8 3E 87 16 99 3E 7B 14 4E 3F 6F 12 83 3B 58 39 B4 3D A0 1A 8F 3F 6A BC 1C C0 56 0E DD BF F8 53 7B C0 46 B6 F3 BE 1D 5A A4 3F 56 0E BD BF D5 78 E9 3D 1D 5A 84 3F 6F 12 53 C0 37 89 21 3F 2F DD A4 3E 79 E9 A6 BF 19 04 96 3E C7 4B D7 BF C7 4B 57 BF 29 5C 8F BE 6F 12 83 BB 29 5C 8F BD A6 9B E4 BF 48 E1 3A BF It only allows me to paste: C9 76 7E BF 77 BE 8F BF 25 06 01 BF CF F7 A3 BF CF F7 5B 40 6F 12 23 BF 93 18 84 BE 52 B8 AE BF A8 C6 03 40 F0 A7 66 3F 77 BE 1F 3F 19 04 16 BF 73 68 91 3E 3B DF 6F 3F FC A9 09 C0 3D 0A B7 3F 2F DD A4 BE 19 04 56 3E A0 1A EF 3F B4 C8 86 BF 64 3B DF 3D BE the rest i cant add, perhaps the edit field have a length limit below the average truncating the rest. So, is there anyway to paste the full data into the .esp? I know there's face ripper for FO4 but i'm searching for something for FO3/NV. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hello everyone, I would like to ask you for help to do something as complicated as it is risky, and totally useless if done wrong. What I'd like to do is just bypass the hard work when you want to add hundreds of custom haircuts you've gotten from mods to a custom race. For those who haven't understood, I'm talking about the lack of function of GECK to add custom haircuts to races. You can do this for customized eyes, just select them in bulk and add them to the race screen, in the appropriate box*: [ExampleRace>Face Data->Eye Colors*]. But you can't with hair, many know it and I've seen many discussions about it, so many people had to stress to do this job, which should be simple and integrated in GECK! Now a necessary question and finally my request for this topic. Is there any GECK patch that adds the hair list, or the hair you download from mods, to the list on the left side of the GECK interface? Precisely I mean: [Actor Data->Head Part->Characters->Hair] If it exists, I couldn't find it. But if it doesn't exist there is a solution I think. As far as I know the meshes and textures of the Vanilla hair are contained in the original files of the game. I believe in a BSA file but I don't know what file it is. Maybe you can tell me. However what I suggest as a workaround is to unpack that BSA file, add all the custom hair meshes and textures we got from the mods, and finally reassemble that BSA file containing the Vanilla hair and the custom hair. By doing so I assume that the custom hair is made available for any Vanilla or non-Vanilla breed, since for GECK those custom hairs are integrated into the file where the Vanilla hair is present. Let me know what I should do to avoid errors. I'm guessing that's a five minute chore, a fraction of the time spent adding custom hair manually using GECK. I hope this topic can help people avoid wasting hours going crazy with GECK because it doesn't have this feature. Thank you
  4. [sOLVED] I had downloaded it from: (https://www.modorganizer.org/) and followed these instructions (https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/Guide:Mod_Organizer). It's actually available on Nexus, here: (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6194), and from the video section you can find this video: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwaC7gP7_JM) that shows you how to link MO2 with Nexus. Once that's done, you can just go to the file page on a mod, and instead of manual install, you use the mod manager download option. I had assumed the "mod manager" was this "Vortex" mod manager that's all over the site. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Post: Details: Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, Steam Windows 10 Had Mods working on it, game runs fine. I'm trying to install "HeNMCs_Texture_Pack_for_FO3" (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/12056?tab=files) with MO2. I've been able to install other mods, such as "RH_IronSights - FOSE" (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6938) by just manually downloading the .zip file, and navigating to it through MO2 with the "install a new mod from archive" button. With "NMCs_Texture_Pack_for_FO3" however, the downloaded file is listed as type: "file". I guess that's a file type unkown to my system. I can open it with 7Zip, but MO2 can't find it in the same way as with other mods such as "RH_IronSights - FOSE". How do I open this type of file with MO2 ? The "Fallout 3 Beginners guide to modding" (https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2247384-fallout-3-beginners-guide-to-modding/) doesn't explicitly state how to download this kind of mod. The MO2 documentation doesn't either (https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/Guide:Mod_Organizer), at least not that I can see. I've used mods on various games before but I'm obviously overlooking something and I'm out of my depth. Any help would be great, thanks in advance. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.
  5. I've tried the stutter remover, and going into my nvidia settings to change the amount of pre-rendered frames to 1, and it's still stuttering, I can't find anything else online about it. Any ideas ? Thanks.
  6. Hello, so I've been using the Fallout 3 G.E.C.K for quite a while now and have been making my own mod. But I've stumbled into a problem. I wanted to add a custom radio into my game, so I searched on google about how to do it and got to this video - Now, I followed all the instructions and got the radio and songs to work but every time a song plays it repeats itself twice, and then moves onto the second song, which that song repeats itself twice before the third song, which that song repeats itselft twice, etc. I've searched about this problem on google and youtube, but nothing has come up. And if I try and fix it myself, I either don't fix the problem or I break the radio completely. Can anyone please help me fix this problem?
  7. Problem: DarNifiedUIF3 (v0.11.1a fixed) works for all Fallout 3 menus except for hud_main_menu.xml, which remains vanilla. Game: Steam Fallout 3 update 1.7.0.4 reverted to 1.7.0.3 via the “Fallout Anniversary Patcher” (may its praises resound throughout the Wasteland and beyond) found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24913. Script Extender: FOSE 1.3 beta2. Mod Manager: Vortex 1.4.16 History: I have successfully used DarNUIF3 (and DarnUINV for Fallout NV) for a number of years. I have used FOMM, MO, and Vortex as mod managers for all these games and have never had any issues until now. I presently manage Fallout NV with Vortex, and I have no problems whatever with DarNUI for that game. Steps Taken to Solve the Problem: Verified DarNUI fonts in Fallout.ini; verified DarNUI menus in Fallout 3 goty\Data\Menus; verified that DarNUI is installed, enabled, and deployed; and verified that DarNUI overwrites (via a Vortex “load after” rule) every instance of hud_main_menu.xml found in other deployed mods. Unfortunately, the problem remains despite these actions. At this point I have exhausted my meager modding knowledge and request assistance from those wiser than I. Not ruling out some dumb mistake on my part, I wonder if there are variables unknown to me that are causing the main HUD problem. I especially wonder if the Fallout 3 update and patched reversion might have something to do with this. Any and all help would be appreciated. EDIT: Upon closer examination, my game HUD appears to be using the DarNUI fonts. However, the HUD is still set to the vanilla display size, which occupies an inordinate (in my opinion) amount of screen space. I have also done a comparison of the DarNUI main HUD menus for both Fallout 3 and Fallout NV, and the HUD size specifications are identical. However, while Fallout NV has a fully DarNified HUD, Fallout 3's HUD remains basically vanilla.
  8. Hey everyone. Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition is on sale now at GOG for $8.99! (Steam currently wants $14.99) GotY includes the Bloodmoon andTribunal expansions, plus you'll get a free copy of Arena & Daggerfall! WOOT! The other Official DLC are free, and can be downloaded from Bethesda via UESP. I downloaded the whole Elder Scrolls series from GOG a few months ago & it's been great! I know if you're reading this, you probably already have a copy of Morrowind. I did too, but there's a few good reasons to pick up the GOG version instead. No DRM: For those who don't know, GOG sells LEGITIMATE games with no DRM. You can simply download, install, play, and uninstall all without the stupid disks. No going through a 3rd party interface. Unlike with Steam, GOG's version doesn't require you run it through Steam's application. Not going through Steam avoids numerous problems with Morrowind/Mods caused by it being installed to Program Files, which is where Steam installs to by default. (For those who don't know, moddable games should not be installed to Program Files or Program Files (x86) due to Windows UAC interference.) Just install the GOG version to someplace like C:\Games & you're golden!GOG does have an interface called "Galaxy" that you can use that is similar to Steam's, but it is entirely optional. I haven't tried it myself, but like that I'm not not FORCED to use it, unlike Steam, and I hear it has some useful features, like easy update installation, library management, etc. Also, if interested GOG has the following on sale too: Oblivion: Game of the Year Deluxe edition for $11.99. This is the version that contains ALL of the official DLC, so if you are/were confused by Steam/Bethesda's various versions - this is the one to get. Redguard for $2.99 (Includes Arena & Daggerfall) Battlespire for $2.99 (Includes Arena & Daggerfall) Morrowind GotY, Redguard, Battlespire, Daggerfall, & Arena can all be purchased at a discounted price of $14.97. Just go to one of the above links for Morrowind, Redguard, or Battlespire, and you'll find "Buy Series" below the main file. Not bad for 15 bucks! Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition for $11.99 (Includes all five of the Fallout 3 Game Add-on Packs + Arena & Daggerfall) Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition for $11.99 (Includes all addons: Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road, + Arena & Daggerfall) The Witcher games & expansions are all 50% off or more. 1-Enhanced, 2-Enhanced, 3-and DLCs as individuals, and 3-GoTY (Includes the base game, all expansions and additional content released to date including Hearts of Stone and the Blood & Wine expansions. See spoiler for more. Or, the whole schebang for $49.44. (See "Buy Series") Disclaimer: I'm in no way affiliated with GOG, or making any money off of promoting their stuff. I just want to bring this to people's attention because I think they're a great service!

  10. Hi there, with FO3 GOG Version and slightly modded (textures only), I have framerate drops with Radio stations turned on in Pipboy. It's really annoying, as I play with VSYNC on, normally at 98% of the time I get steady 60 FPS, but I get reproducable framerate drops to 45-50 FPS with f.e. GNR turned on. Even indoors. GPU load 40-70%, CPU load 10-25%, 1060 GTX, i5-6600. OS is Win 8.1 It is not the common stutter ppl reporting very often here and elsewhere, the music plays fine, no cracklings ever, but I have framerate drops. And no, the CPU load also for 1 core is not at maximum then. Tried with or without mods, stays the same. So it's a codec thing?! EDIT: It also depends on where I look at, what direction. Standing in DC, turning around, and stop, it sometimes keeps 60 FPS, turning around again, it is 45-50 FPS again. Always on the same direction. It has nothing to do with the complexity of the scene IMHO. And saying again: without Radio turned on it is steady 60 FPS. EDIT2: I only have the problems with Radio Enclave and Galaxy News Radio, other mod Radio stations work fine. Anyone else can reproduce this, and one who can tell me how to fix it? Thx
  11. can someone make a more detailed music tree for music in fallout 4 that uses some of its original soundtracks + new vegas and FO2 and FO1 as well as new vegas soundtracks for exploring dungeons city and etc? it would have some specific areas have areas have multiple soundtracks (e.g: wasteland or downtown) and some dungeons and places as well would have multiple music variants and some wouldn't play unless revisited and it chooses that one. Purpose of the mod is to make FO4 feel like an ever changing game every time you play whether its the same old save or new save it would feel like a new experience. also, the mod could maybe effect FO4 DLC land areas if the mod has extra music.
  12. Hey, All you Military gear heads! Please post any Military Style Military Armor ideas here! I'd like to see them! who Knows? I may be picked up by a Modder and made into an In game armor. I also Wanna see what kinda Ideas you guys got!
  13. Hi everyone, I accidentally deleted a script using FO3Edit and lost all my back-ups due to a system reload ): I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to decompile scripts compiled in the GECK? I'm using FO3Edit to view the compiled result.
  14. Hi all, I'm looking to create a mod for fo3 (Details will be reveled on request). This project is quite ambitious so I require lots of help for this project. I will be lead writter for this prject but don't want to spent to much time actually in Geck due to the fact I am busy with other projects such as 'fallout atlanta' ect. I feel i have a good idea for a mod and story but don't have the time to make it on the geck. I'm looking for a group of modders to take on this project. All donations on the project will be share bewteen everyone who works on it. If anyone wants to work on this project or get more info just send me a massage Thanks for everyones time
  15. Every time I try and play after the update, there's a weird bug causing me to crash. I'm using mainly FWE, and for some reason once I get past some invisible "border" I crash. For example around the entrance to Springvale School. I think it's something to do with loading some weird object. http://i.imgur.com/ZIo2jS0.jpg This is my load order, I used LOOT to sort it. I'm using the newest version of FOSE. What could be the problem? The game is basically unplayable. Last time I played before the NMM update, everything ran smooth and no crashes.
  16. Hi everyone, I'm trying to make a script that triggers a car explosion in fallout 3 Any Idea's?
  17. Hey Everyone, This is my first ever forum post so I would just like to start off by apologising for any conventions that I may have missed in posting this query. I am currently developing a Fallout 3 quest mod using the GECK and I am unsure as to how to go about setting up a protectron pod with a protectron inside it that you can activate from a terminal. I have set both the pod and the generic protectron it contains and the terminal as a presistant reference in the GECK and have set the terminals 'Link Ref' to be the generic protectron (Id = "genericPodProtectron "). When I activate the unit in the terminal the protectron turns on but the pod dosn't open to allow it to leave, nor does it seem to be moving around inside the pod(except for some sort of turning from side to side animation). I would greatly appreciate anyones assistance who can help me with this matter! :) Kind regards, rawd123.
  18. Hello, I'm using a mod called Weapon Retexture Project, and there's a problem with the sniper rifle world model. It only glitches with NPCs, and when dropped, NOT with the player. http://i18.servimg.com/u/f18/16/25/86/14/2015-012.jpghttp://i18.servimg.com/u/f18/16/25/86/14/2015-013.jpghttp://i18.servimg.com/u/f18/16/25/86/14/2015-014.jpg

  20. This may have been asked numerous times before. but I haven't found an answer yet. So, I love playing this game with a gamepad (yes I love gamepads so what?) and I know you can't easily enter the console window or quicksave/quickload the game. It is my belief there has got to be a mod that turns at least those keyboard keys on. I do realize this may not be done in the normal scripting language for FO3, but I hope it's somehow possible with FOSE. I also wonder if it has been done before and if anyone can point me in the right direction. I did find one "mod". It was an xpadder profile for playing FO3 with keyboard and mouse but I have no idea how effective it is, and it's kind of a work-around and not a mod. The "mod" relies on xpadder's control scheme to map keyboard to the controller which could be odd, but I haven't really tested this. It is my belief that since the game engine can natively support both modes that this can be possible without xpadder (or other joy2key like software). So... is this possible or am I only dreaming?
  21. I am very new to modding Fallout3, I have got all my mods set up and installed using FOMM, I have installed FOSE and ArchInvalid and the game launches fine so far. However I have a couple questions: 1. Not all of my installed mods are appearing in the first window of FOMM after I install them; ie, not all of them are in the data files section of the launcher. Is this okay or does it mean they wont appear in the game? (I am starting a new game so I can't just log in and check) 2. Do I need to launch FO3 through the launcher and select the data files I want everytime I play? Or can I just use the launcher to load my mods when I start up the game? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  22. So as the title says, my game crashes a lot. I decided to use Fallout 3 Windows 7 and 8 fix, but with the d3d9 file my game wont start, but a command prompt window keeps opening and closing, until I delete the d3d9 file and my game starts up. I havent had anything else fix the errors, and I think this will. It is also worth mentioning I do have FOSE installed.

  24. Hi, Im synester101 and im having a very annoying problem with my Modded Fallout 3. I used the Nexus Mod Manager to install "Fallout 3 Wanderer's Edition (FWE)" and "Mart's Mutant Mod (MMM)". I have all DLC, and the FOIP for MMM + FWE + DLC (FWE came with CRAFT and CALIBR). Ill get into the mod details & Load order in a moment, but first Im going to explain the issue. Seemingly at random, my game freezes. This can be immediately after loading a save, after wandering the wastes for 2 hours, after talking with someone, saving a game, taking/stealing something, or fighting. There has been no trend as to when this happens. It never happens with the Pip-Boy open, or with the game paused, or at the startup screens. During gameplay at random moments. I cannot go to the pause menu from here; nor can i minimize it using Alt + Tab. I just open the task manager and close it from there.
