As many people know Dave and I have a love for anything with 4 wheels and in my case, the 2-wheel variety too. So, when we found out our client was planning to sponsor the Alpine F1 team, it was a design bucket list project come true.

With the contracts signed, and admittedly were signed at very late notice it left very little time to produce the assets required for the launch of what was a very prestigious project. There was also the chicken and egg obstacle that we had to overcome, in that the contract states, and rightly so, that you cannot use any footage from last year’s car, yet there was also no new footage of the new car provided by the Alpine F1 marketing team.

The race to the finish line

Video production

This conundrum forced us to think outside the box. How do we create an attention-grabbing video to showcase the partnership when all we have are static images and grainy on-track footage?

Surprisingly, we discovered that we weren't alone in this predicament. None of the other sponsors had managed to crack the code either. However, we drew inspiration from Ryan Reynolds' company, another co-sponsor, who ingeniously used a 1/50 scale replica of the car in their video, cheekily acknowledging its lack of authenticity.

Our strategy involved sourcing a 3D model of the latest car. Thankfully, we found one within the 3D community, although not entirely accurate in detail. Nevertheless, it provided us with a foundation to work with, allowing us to customise the model to match the current livery and sponsors.

Partnership promotion

Launching the advertising campaign for a financial trading specialist

With this 3D model at our disposal, we embarked on creating the video and additional assets required for the campaign launch.

We started with a teaser video, followed by the official partnership announcement launch video.

Since then, we've continued to promote the partnership through additional promotional videos, encouraging customer engagement. Additionally, each race on the schedule necessitates new marketing materials.
