We in Games Finland
Non-profit Organizations
WiGFi is on a mission to improve diversity, equity and inclusion within the Finnish gaming industry.
About us
We in Games Finland is a non-profit organisation for everyone looking to improve diversity, equity and inclusion within the games industry. Our goal since 2011 has been to attract more diverse talent to the games industry as contributors, employees, and founders in Finland. Today, our goal is still the same – but we’ve grown from a network of women into an actual non-profit organisation to support minorities in games on a broader spectrum. We in Games Finland’s organises networking events, workshops, and mentorship opportunities. Our activities also include other forms of sharing information, connections, and training to our members. Anyone can apply the We in Games Finland membership regardless of their gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age, financial situation, or body and functionality.

Thanks Remedy Entertainment Plc for having us! 💐
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Espoo studio yesterday for the event where we discussed diversity, inclusion and equity, organised by We in Games Finland and us at Remedy. Thank you to our speakers for opening up about their experiences in the industry, the challenges they faced and the victories they celebrated both in Finland and worldwide. A big thanks to our panellists: Giorgia Arena (Metacore), Nicolas Wartelle-Mathieu (Housemarque), and Essi Jukkala (Supercell, president of We in Games Finland). And thank you to Remedy panelists and speakers Brooke Maggs, Karen Soh, Molly Maloney and Mira Günther. It's IGDA week in Helsinki again! You want to go, but not alone? Meet with a smaller group beforehand at Muji in Kamppi! Thanks to so many people joining WiGFi's last pre-IGDA. We are doing it again! Tuesday, 14.05. from 16:30 onwards. For everyone that hasn't been to a pre-IGDA: we meet before IGDA in a smaller and less noisy space. From there we go together to IGDA at about 18:00, together. It's in the same building. As much as I love the IGDA meetups, it's a bit intimidating at first, when you don't know many people. I was very happy to have people go there with me during my first visits. As I unfortunately am not in Helsinki this week, Iva Kojadinovic will host the event! She is the person that always shows up, so I'm not alone in Muji. Please be nice and don't let her be alone - thanks! ☺️ Location: Muji Restaurant on the 4th floor in Kamppi, Helsinki. Time: 16:30 - 18:00 (no need to be there 16:30 sharp) This event is wheelchair accessible, so is IGDA. Please read We in Games' code of conduct before attending: https://lnkd.in/dWAwXa8f By the way, IGDA is sponsored by Metacore this time! 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿 💎Show appropriate respect and courtesy to one another. 💎Be kind, considerate, respectful, and collaborative. 💎Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech. 💎Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. 💎Alert WiGFi responsible if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress. Have fun!

Thank you Futureplay Games and Northern Stars Studio for having us!
Today we hosted a warmhearted and interesting DEI panel and breakfast event together with Northern Stars Studio and We in Games Finland . These events are important channels to raise up any kind of topics and discuss openly how we can learn to be more inclusive 🌱 We are never ready, and to foster a healthy work community we need to be openminded for change and learn from others. We at Futureplay Games and Northern Stars are already in a good path but we are humble and do understand that we can never be fully ready and done. Thank you all for participating, especially our panelists Barbara Leal & Athina Giokarini from Futureplay and Besa Istrefi from Northern Stars. And of course Essi Jukkala for facilitating the panel.

Happy Day of Equality! Behind every successful person is a support network of people who believe in them, but these supporters are especially important for underrepresented people in the industry. Based on their research, Taina Myöhänen has written about people and organisations that have had an impact on helping diverse people find their place in the industry. “It just took one person to believe in what I could become one day”. Be that one person for someone.

Thank you, Next Games, A Netflix Game Studio, for hosting this event with us, and thank you to all of our members who attended!
We had a wonderful time at our International Women's Day Breakfast and Panel on Friday! ☕ Our panelists shared their thoughts on the importance of having leaders from different backgrounds in the game industry, and how we can be better allies to different people on our teams, while also doing our best to combat bias and make sure that everyone is given equal opportunities to grow and be heard. A big thank you to everyone who came out! We can't wait to host you all again in the future. 🫶
