Today Konecranes reports its Q2 results. The past quarter was great for us, with all of our three Business Segments delivering record-high comparable EBITA margins. Demand environment and order intake remained healthy. Sales grew year-on-year with 13% and exceeded €1 billion. Thanks to that sales growth and good strategy execution, profitability improved year-on-year, and we posted an all-time high quarterly comparable EBITA margin of 14.3%. Our orderbook remains strong and was nearly €3.0 billion at the end of June. Our strategy execution has progressed better than initially expected and as a result, we upgraded our profitability guidance for this year in the financial guidance. We now expect our net sales to remain on the same level or to increase in 2024 compared to 2023, and our comparable EBITA margin to improve from the previous year. That said, we are not expecting our profitability to improve sequentially in Q3 versus Q2. Overall, this Q2 was one of Konecranes’ strongest quarters ever. This is an excellent achievement, and I would like to thank the whole Konecranes team for the strong performance. Customer Story: Markin Tubing, a leading small-diameter tubing manufacturer, operates eight steel tube mills offering a complete range of carbon-steel tubing. Their production process relies heavily on process-critical cranes. After experiencing frequent hoist breakdowns, Markin partnered with Konecranes for quarterly proactive maintenance inspections. This decision has eliminated breakdowns entirely, ensuring uninterrupted production and worker safety. Three years later, breakdowns are a thing of the past at Markin Tubing. According to Purchasing Manager Ivan Zahariev, the company has gone from five-10 instances a year where a line was shut down due to crane failure, to none. “We entered into this relationship with Konecranes to save money by eliminating breakdowns and to guarantee our customer’s delivery dates would be met. But in terms of value, you can’t put a price on worker safety. That’s where this program has really paid off for us,” Ivan Zahariev says. [NEWS] Konecranes today announced it is establishing a network of partners including steel structure providers and subcontractors to build port cranes in the United States in the coming years. This long-term plan was started as part of a series of initiatives from the US government, which recognizes Konecranes’ position as a global leader in material handling solutions with deep roots in the country.   Konecranes expects the network to grow in states including Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin in the coming years, and has received initial indications of interest from a number of customers for Build America Buy America (BABA) cranes including ship-to-shore (STS) cranes. Given that STS cranes take several years to produce and deliver, the company does not see any short-term impact on its financials from this initiative.   Konecranes has operated in the US for decades, and has three crane manufacturing facilities, approximately 2,200 employees and over 60 branches across the country. [NEWS] The German modular builder Algeco has orderd five Konecranes E-VER electric forklifts to handle special containers used to construct modular buildings. As a global leader in modular construction, Algeco will utilise the E-VER electric forklifts to enhance operational capacity as well as to reduce emissions from its operations. “Because our modular building concept is based around sustainability, we've always striven to minimize emissions. The Konecranes E-VERs we ordered are a fully electric version of our other Konecranes forklifts, and we’re confident they will deliver the same high performance and increase our productivity even more,” says Dominik Jungmann, Fleet and Logistics Manager, Algeco. “Algeco is already operating a fleet of 23 Konecranes 12-ton forklifts, and this new order proves the strength and versatility of the E-VER in specialist applications, all on electric power.
