Fandom Stars Wiki

Hello everyone!

This is my second time publishing a blog post here, on the Fandom Stars Wiki, and I really like to have this chance to share some of the projects the different Product teams are working on!

This time I would like to announce a new experimentation of the recently added feature in Interactive Maps, making them available for progress tracking. The first iteration was already launched on March 4, and as we announced on March 22, we would be analyzing the results and thinking about new ways to improve the tool.

Now this time has come, so let’s dive into the details!

Experiment Name: Progress tracking in Maps 2

Test Launch: (Tentative) Wednesday, April 17, 2024

Test Closes: 2 weeks

Type: A/B Test (for logged-out users)

Will Be Tested On: 100% of logged-out desktop and mobile users (50% control group, 50% variant group) from all gaming wikis using at least 1 Interactive Map on English language (2084 wikis).

Hypothesis: During the first iteration of this feature, we wanted to investigate if the adoption was meaningful. This second iteration is planned to test whether users find this feature helpful enough to be willing to register to use it.

Description: Once a logged-out user is interacting with a map and clicking on the progress tracking checkbox, they’re invited to register. After registration, the user finds themselves back on the same marker popup where they started, with the checkbox checked.

Other notes: This experiment is addressed to logged-out users, having control and variant groups. Every logged-in user is able to use the feature as we previously launched it in March. A logged-out user in the control group will be able to interact with the feature as they’ve been doing during the first iteration. A logged-out user from the variant group would see the feature, and once they click on it, they have the chance to log-in and be able to use it.

Extra announcement: In addition to the experiment, as we already mentioned back in March, I would like to take advantage of this space to also announce that we’re adding the fullscreen feature for all Interactive Maps as a native option, for all languages and verticals, regardless the performance of the described test in this blog.
