Failure2Fortune is a community where invited guests share important failures that have led to increased knowledge, courage and resilience. A community for researchers, startups, and others working in or are interested in exploring the field of medical technology. This time we are proud to present Sofia Mayans and Helena Fordell!

Sofia Mayans

Sofia Mayans is a seasoned professional with over 8 years of experience as CEO at InfiCure Bio AB, specializing in the development of anti-fibrotic drugs to combat organ failure. Currently serving as acting CEO at Vakona AB and Senior Innovation and Business Advisor at SLU Holding, she brings expertise in business strategy, project management, and client relations to her roles, bolstered by her extensive background in life sciences and research. With a track record of leadership and innovation, Sofia continues to drive impactful solutions in the fields of fibrosis research and drug development.

Helena Fordell

Helena Fordell is a neurologist, researcher and founder of Brain Stimulation AB, a spin-off SME company from UMU. A company built on her successful research results, using Mixed Reality, as a platform to apply knowledge of brain-plasticity, to create engaging and restorative rehabilitation program with interactive 3D holograms. Helena has more than 20 years of experience working in the borderland as a researcher and entrepreneur, she was awarded the SKAPA Prize in 2017. The products are now available for clinical use, and she continue to publish results from international collaborations. Multicenter trials are ongoing in close collaboration with Oxford University, and other leading academic institutes. She also has a strong commitment, both nationally and internationally, to supporting female researchers in multi-disciplinary translational research.
