Deadpool & Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman surprise fans, get soaked at Seoul Waterbomb Festival

The costars and pals crashed the annual bash and ended up totally drenched.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman just made a splash with their Deadpool & Wolverine world tour.

On Friday, the costars stopped by the 2024 Waterbomb Festival in Seoul, South Korea, to compete in a friendly (to a point) squirt gun competition. Armed with their powerful weapons and mini-armies of audience members, they played to find out who could get their audience more hyped — and who would end up totally drenched.

While Reynolds was ultimately the victor, the festival lived up to its name, with both actors soaked from head to toe by the end of their surprise appearance.

“May I just say, we were robbed, Team Wolverine!” Jackman told the crowd in his final moments on stage, per fan-recorded footage. “We were robbed!”

The Logan actor’s words were met with a chorus of boos, to which he replied, “It’s okay, Team Deadpool. We love you too.”

Reynolds was quick to reassure his crowd that Jackman wouldn’t forget about his loss anytime soon.

“He’s never gonna hear the end of this,” Reynolds quipped. “I swear to God. I’ll make sure of it. I will tell our story!”

Later that day, Reynolds joked about the event in an Instagram post, sharing photos of the sopping wet pals.

"When @thehughjackman told me we were going to a Waterboarding Festival, I was confused, scared, and also pretty damn scared,” he wrote. “He knows how much I love #DeadpoolAndWolverine. I’ll do anything to promote it. You can imagine my relief when we arrived at the WaterBOMB Festival in Seoul, South Korea: the coolest, most charming mix of K-pop, water fights, dancing, and joy.”

He continued, “Promoting a film is supposed to be WORK, but Marvel’s paying for us to go on the greatest vacation of our lives. Someone is for sure getting fired over there. Probably Kevin Feige.”

Jackman and Reynolds have been close ever since they starred in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine — which was also Reynolds' first big-screen appearance as Deadpool — but Deadpool & Wolverine will mark their much-anticipated reunion as the titular Marvel characters. Besides being a multiverse-hopping epic packed with cameos, F-bombs, and fourth-wall breaks, the film will explore the ever-complicated relationship between the merc with a mouth and the adamantium-clawed berzerker.

"The movie is ultimately about friendship," Jackman told the festival crowd. "So grab your friends and go to the cinema."

Helmed by Free Guy director Shawn Levy, the third Deadpool film was originally headed in a very different direction until Jackman came aboard.

"Everything changed radically on the day that Hugh called Ryan," Levy told Entertainment Weekly in May. "We had been workshopping a lot of ideas about possible stories for a third Deadpool movie. I can safely say that the story completely changed and, in fact, came to us very, very quickly starting that day."
