Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers joke that Cher and Nicolas Cage ‘hate each other’ in ‘Moonstruck’: ‘Zero chemistry’

"He has a wooden hand, and you can tell the whole time, Cher's like, 'This f---ing hand,'" Poehler recalled.

Amy Poehler is jet-lagged, and she's not ready to just snap out of it when it comes to dishing about the iconic film Moonstruck.

The actress and comedian joined her pal Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss the upcoming Inside Out 2 — but instead, they chose to discuss Moonstruck, the 1987 romantic comedy starring Cher and Nicolas Cage.

Poehler explained that she had recently taken a 22-hour flight from Australia to the U.K. and during the flight, she watched Moonstruck. "Should we talk about Moonstruck?" she asked Meyers.

"I would love to talk about Moonstruck," Meyers replied. "I watched Moonstruck like five years ago. It's great. But two different movies?"

The two Saturday Night Live alums then proceeded to chat about the movie, particularly Cage and Cher's performances. "First of all, Nicolas Cage, so hot," Poehler said.

Added Meyers: "So hot. Like tight white tank," before Poehler continued, "White tank, sweaty. He's like making pizza. Teeth like a graveyard. Cher, so hot. Gorgeous. And zero chemistry between the two of them."

"None," Meyers agreed. Poehler concluded, "If you watch it again, they hate each other."

Meyers also noted that he thought he had once read that Cage was approaching his role as if he were acting in a German expressionist film, which led the two to discuss his character's wooden hand. "He has a wooden hand, and you can tell the whole time, Cher's like, 'This f---ing hand,'" Poehler said. "See? I swore."

"That's okay because the part of your mind that knows about standards is eight hours behind," Meyers quipped. "You can swear if you're jet-lagged."

With the interview getting truly zany, Meyers asked Poehler to give her best Cher impression of the actress' iconic line in the movie, "Snap out of it!" But Poehler wanted to get the business of the moment exact, noting that there are two slaps, "which people forget."

"So she slaps and then she slaps again," she remembered. "Hold on, let me get this right, this is important. So she says, slap, 'Snap out of it.' Slap again. I think."

Even when loopy from travel, Poehler always finds a way to bring us joy.
