On July 10, XaRFA and #XartecSalut hosted an event focused on 3D printing and biomaterials in healthcare with the goal to facilitate networking among network members, foster knowledge exchange, and showcase the latest research advancements. We are really happy to share with you the session on this video!! It was a great afternoon for collaboration and we are already looking to have more sessions like this one🍻🎉 The event featured presentations that explored on the customization of 3D-printed materials for biological applications, the development of cutting-edge biomaterials for tissue regeneration and cartilage recreation, among others, with experts such as Alberto Rodríguez Cañada (Xartec Salut), Roger Uceda (XaRFA), Jordi Sand Mila (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Anna Diez Escudero (UPC), César Rodriguez-Emmenegger (Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), Robert Teixido (IQS Barcelona), Oscar C. (IBEC), Juan Crespo Santiago, PhD (Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya (UVic-UCC) – ELISAVA), Elena Xuriguera (Universitat de Barcelona), and Sergi Bafaluy Ojea (Leitat Technological Center). One of the highlight moments was the round table discussion "Challenges in the World of 3D Printing and Biotissues," moderated by Felip Fenollosa i Artés (CIM UPC) and featuring Arnau Valls Esteve (Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona), Jordi Martorell (Aortyx), Talyta Carteano (ASPHALION), and Octavio Lenis (Institut Guttmann – Neurorehabilitation Hospital). At the end, we enjoyed the best part, networking and drinks!! We wanted the attendees to continue exchanging ideas and projects in a relaxed way, and we are pleased with the success of the meeting, which has demonstrated the potential of collaboration and knowledge exchange in the healthcare field. Breaking News for the development of next generation advanced biofuels technologies! 🚀 We're thrilled to announce the kick-off of the Fuels-C project at Leitat's facilities. This innovative project will transform biogenic organic waste and carbon dioxide into liquid and gaseous biofuels for direct use in fuel cells. 🌱⛽️ By combining cutting-edge conversion technologies in an integrated platform, Fuels-C will produce four different biofuels (methane, ethanol, formic acid and ammonia) tailored to maritime and road transportation modes. This approach maximizes energy efficiency while minimizing our environmental footprint. 🌍 ♻️This project is a major leap forward in decarbonizing transportation and boosting the circular economy. 🖨️ Empezamos la semana compartiendo la formación de tres días en tecnologías de fabricación aditiva que tuvo lugar en el IAM 3D HUB, que operamos y gestionamos desde Leitat. 🧠 Durante esta formación, el equipo de Leitat compartió con los asistentes de Kreios Space su know-how en diversas tecnologías de fabricación aditiva, desde el diseño y la ingeniería para la impresión 3D, pasando por la fabricación aditiva metálica y el posprocesado. 🚀 ¿Sabíais que Kreios Space han sido pioneros en el desarrollo de medium satellites de baja órbita y de propulsión sostenible? La empresa aerospacial ha dado un paso importante hacia un futuro más sostenible en la exploración espacial al eliminar la necesidad de combustibles fósiles o químicos en su sistema de propulsión, gracias a la fabricación aditiva. 🌕 Además, hemos tenido la suerte de contar con la participación de Adrià Barceló, Propulsion Technical Manager, y Max Amer Viñas, Aerodynamics Technical Manager, ambos cofundadores de Kreios Space. 🙌🏽 Por nuestra parte, el equipo técnico de Leitat, formado por Xavier Tutó, Charbell Andree De Soto y Marc Sospedra, ha contribuido en la fabricación de los medium satellites mediante tecnologías de fabricación aditiva. 🔝 Este progreso también ha sido posible gracias a la colaboración con socios tecnológicos del IAM3DHUB como Renishaw, AM Solutions, y GPAINNOVA | DLyte. ¡Muchas gracias a todos!
🙌🏽 Cuando la tecnología se une a la medicina, pueden pasar cosas maravillosas. 🏥Un dispositivo de ventilación neonatal de bajo coste, fabricado en impresión 3D, ya está implantado en un hospital de Gambia, cambiando vidas. 🌍 Desde Leitat, nos sentimos orgullosos de haber podido colaborar en este proyecto y favorecer su llegada a Gambia y, esperamos que también, a otros territorios para la asistencia de neonatos.

💡 Cambra de Barcelona will host on the 10th and 11th of October an innovation event that will bring together cities, start-ups, companies, universities, and technology centers. The meeting, entitled ‘Innovation Procurement and Horizon Europe City Mission and CL5 brokerage event’, will be a unique occasion for debating on innovative solutions to drive the green transition and to explore business opportunities by transferring knowledge from I+D centers to organisations.
