I need following book as it features further information about the Mongol800 song "Chiisana Koi no Uta" as well as 29 other popular Japanese songs from the Heisei era:

Do not use {{lang}} or {{nihongo}} in {{citation}} |title=. Also, jas refers to New Caledonian Javanese; is that what you really meant? You are looking for a book so why do you name a periodical? Apparently Shinchō shinsho, 929 is a series of which this source is the 929th number so |periodical= amd |issue= are misused. Google books says that the book length is 303 pages so |pages=303 is a misuse of that parameter; cs1|2 does not support total-number-of-pages. I fixed your example template to remove {{lang}} and |pages= and replaced , |periodical= and |issue= with |series=.

Have you looked at OCLC for this book? Perhaps one of the libraries that it lists as holders of the source is near you or perhaps an interlibrary loan can be arranged. See OCLC 1285903229.

There have been 46 presidents, and I suspect that the OP may be working on the assumption that one president = one vice president. Some presidents have had more than one VP. @PrimeHunter I did mean Wikipedia search engine. When I initially clicked to edit the disambiguation page the pop-up notice made me think it had to be added by a page patroller. I have now added Matt Baker (entertainer) to the diambiguation page. Hello. I have just been reading through the article concerning Mike Smith, the late BBC Radio DJ and TV presenter. Under the section of the article concerning "Personal life", one sentence is terminated by a {{fact}} tag. The statement made which has been flagged, however, already has the information requested, provided by another reference on the same page.

Is it safe to remove the fact tag, because the info is already present? If not, how should I correct the article to point the fact tag, to the correct reference in the page please?

If one of the page's references supports the sentence, then you can cite that source again at the end of the sentence. The Visual Editor has an easy way to re-use references. I have less experience with the Source Editor, but WP:REFNAME might help – you basically give the reference a shorthand name and use that name for citations (aka footnotes) after the first one. (I apologize if this is not the correct place for this. I do not edit Wikipedia a lot.) I have found that this article has some misinformation:

1. The poem is not called "The Amada". In the original source, "The Amadan" (with an "n") is the title of the chapter, and the poem actually starts from the previous page.
2. The explanation about the meaning of the supposed "Amada" in Latin and Sanskrit are also pure nonsense. It is explained in the beginning of the chapter that "The Amadan" means "the fool", as can be seen in wikt:amadan#Scottish Gaelic.

Should I just edit the page directly? The section containing the poem allegedly entitled "The Amada" would probably need to change to something like "the poem in the book" (in lowercase letters because the poem has no title), and would need to include the contents from the previous page. --Kc kennylau (talk) 19:34, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kc kennylau. Yes, in general, you can just correct things in articles that you think are wrong.

But, you should be aware of a few things:

1. You need to look at whether the information you are changing is cited to a reliable source: if it is you should not necessarily change it. Here, the source it is cited to says (as you say) "The Amadan", so you can change it. The Latin and Sanskrit claims are not cited at all, so you are entitled to remove them.
2. Information you add should normally be cited to a reliable source: your own knowledge is not enough. Note that Wiktionary (like Wikipedia) is not a reliable source, as it is user-generated. You could cite a reliable dictionary that "amadán" is Irish for "fool" - but note that that would not of itself establish that that was the meaning of the title. However, it looks as if the text of the "Fiona McLeod" book does support the interpretation.
3. (More generally) as long as you are editing in good faith, the worst that can happen, if somebody disagrees that your edit is an improvement, is that they will revert it. If that happens, you are encouraged to open a discussion with them on the article's talk page. If you think that your edit is likely to be contentious (probably not the case here!) then it is worth opening that discussion first, before making the edit. See BRD for how this works.

Having apparently successfully nominated the file plus others (I used Twinkle) I looked at the file page. It has grabbed the nomination details of a file two files above on the FFD page.

Hi! I'm looking to have two pages that were merged together with no discussion to be unmerged following discussion in the talk page, as the two pages are somewhat similar in subject but are standalone entities. Additionally the merge was not done in a way that preserves all the information and does not accurately reflect the new page that was merged over the old one. Any help is appreciated ! ~~~~

Forgot to link them, it would be University of Ottawa Students' Union which was merged into the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa article. :@Shushugah i would revert it, but multiple edits to the article have been made since, and I'm not 100% well versed in many of the technical sides of Wikipedia and didn't want to accidently mess something up. Also as they merged SFUO into the UOSU one it took the page history from the SFUO, and removed any previous edit history from the newer UOSU page before it got merged in. The history seems to be that University of Ottawa Students' Union was published in 2023, but moved to Draft:University of Ottawa Students' Union as it did not have enough independent sources, so the history is there. Then the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa article was moved to University of Ottawa Students' Union and text was added from the draft. Hopefully someone else can advise. Hello, while trying to fix up an WP:All stub types page, I ran into the inclusion limit.

The goal of the page is to provide a way to search through multiple categorizations (e.g. Commerce and Technology) simultaneously, using the helpful formatting that the WikiProject has created for those subpages.

I think a convenient alternative given this limit would be a modular approach, where subpages can be toggled, starting from an 'all closed' state. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with conditionals on Wikipedia yet. Something simple like {collapse} that only loads the content on-demand would be perfect. It would unnecessarily increase burden on editors to update multiple locations when creating new stubs, and Preprocessor node count would be violated either way.

To clarify, the WikiProject had already begun addressing the size issues with categories on the main page - I just finished the de-transclusion component, which was in an incomplete state. The fully transcluded page burdened users' bandwidth, so was WP:SPLIT - the page I am proposing would serve as a useful intermediary. Tule-hog (talk) 21:54, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that the same person successfully logged in to both accounts 21 July, logging out of both 2 minutes later, and MxYamato who posted above is that same person. Are you saying that the email shown in your preferences is different to the one you expected, or that you didn't get a password reset email? To me, it looks like you should be able to log in as you did recently. It's been 2 years since I quit Wikipedia and decided to come back. Both my Wikipedia accounta, my MDWiki account, and my translatewiki.net accounts' passwords have been changed.

I have been able to reset passwords for MxYamato and my MDWiki accounts, but my MxArya enWP and translatewiki are still not logging in and also the password reset mails never arrive.

I lost my phone sometime back, and my Google account was compromised with my stolen SIM, through which they accessed my password manager.

Did you check your spam folder? There can be activity we can't detect. If you're convinced the account is compromised then m:Trust and Safety are the people who can globally lock and recover accounts; m:stewards can globally lock accounts, and may act quicker than T&S. In the notice for multiple issues for the Article Malcolm "Puck" Puckering, help improve it links to a notice that mentions, "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libellous." I see the main notice only discusses the need for more reliable citations, which I will be adding soon. But, is there currently "Contentious material" in the Article? I will research more about "Contentious material" and how to write a Biography of a living person. Right now I can't find what is "Contentious". The magician who is the subject of this biography, does not have a lot of news or scholarly articles, yet there are quite a few YouTube videos of him, including his performances on Penn & Teller and America's Got Talent. I believe those to be credible YouTube sources. I referenced a Washington Post article that discusses his father, who was a famous Jazz musician. Maybe that is not appropriate since it goes off topic from the person of biography? I will do more reading of the documentation regarding the multiple issues. I am hoping that I can have at least until Friday 7/26/24 to make the changes before the Article is deleted.

@Mlondon101 You have almost answered your own question. The links in your post go to various parts of our policy on the biography of living people, which states All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source. Looking a the Puckering article, almost nothing is currently cited: whole sections on his early life are like that. Hence I (or any other editor) could delete these whole sections as policy violations. Go ahead and attempt to remedy the situation, if you can find suitable reliable sources. I've read a little about how this works, but it still confuses me. I believe that new users get some sort of task list (I don't know how they get this) that's even broken down by category so they can supposedly do gnomish work on articles. Without going into a rant on how rarely these edits are constructive, how do these articles get on the list, and how are they removed? Who decides? A bot? I can't imagine actual editors spend time doing this, but one never knows at Wikipedia. @Bbb23 This system is all part of the Special:Homepage system, which you can activate for your own account at Special:Preferences (at the bottom, called Newcomer homepage). As far as I know, the suggestions are indeed bot-generated, when it sees standard tags like {{cn}} on article pages. Hence the way to remove an article from the list would be to remove the tag. (edit conflict) There's a way that an editor can apply to be sent a weekly task list of articles that need improvement, in fields of their choice. But there's no compulsion for a newcomer, or anyone else, to sign up. I regard the tasks listed, which include improving grammar, finding and citing sources, and calrifying poorly-written text, as constructive. @Bbb23: The suggestions are made by mw:Extension:GrowthExperiments when Special:Homepage is viewed. No edits are saved and no account is used so maybe bot is the wrong word but it's certainly automatic. I don't know whether the extension looks directly for a maintenance template or the category added by the template but the result is the same. A search feature is used to identify articles with topics chosen by the user. See mw:ORES/Articletopic for possible topics. I’m not logged in, so I don’t think anybody could actually reach me and talk to me, but I have a question. I saw notification that Wikipedia needs to be sold and is asking for donations. I use Wikipedia Every day, and probably multiple times every day, and it would probably kill me if something happened to this wonderful site for information. I am very wary about donating, but I am thinking of another way to handle this situation. Instead of asking for donations, why can’t you ask for the millions of people who use this website, to become part owners. There are documents that can easily be downloaded from other Internet websites, they can be placed on the Wikipedia help page, people can download them and fill out property ownership. The limits of the ownership can be documented so there is no biased/unbiased control. That means that the way Wikipedia has been running for the past decades, will not be changed. I think you grossly misread something. Wikipedia cannot be sold, in reality, because it is the main asset of a non-profit educational corporation chartered in the United States. We have ongoing expenses, and donations are encouraged to cover them; but we have a modest endowment being accumulated, currently enough to cover a couple of years' overhead in an emergency. There is no lawful way to convert a non-profit organization into a mutually-owned cooperative or partnership of some kind, nor is there any need for anything of the sort. It has the heading "Wikipedia still can't be sold." It can be interpreted in different ways and maybe the intention is that it literally cannot be sold because it would be illegal, but it sounds misleading to me. The text below was unrelated to selling Wikipedia. Nobody is considering a sale as far I know but many companies would pay a lot. I don't know whether the Wikimedia Foundation could legally sell off Wikipedia while the foundation itself remained a non-profit and continued their other projects, but I see no chance of that happening. @Nahil's: Your request is apparently not about the English Wikipedia article Shigeru Miyamoto but its Wikidata item Shigeru Miyamoto (Q12382) which is also semi-protected. Wikidata has its own procedures and is not controlled by the English Wikipedia but I have added a link to br:Shigeru Miyamoto.[1] Wikidata is unlikely to unprotect a page so anyone can edit it just because somebody wants one link added but I think your issue is resolved now. It was me who added the heading to a post with no heading. Maybe it should have said Leo Froehlich and the poster wants to create a new article about him, not merely add mention to Zábřeh. There is no automated way to "upload" such an article to Wikipedia. Wikipedia articles use the Wikimedia markup language and are produced using one of several Wikipedia editors. Once you have understood core policies such as verifiability, neutral point of view, reliable, independent sources, and notability, and experienced how we handle disagreements with other editors (the Bold, Revert, Discuss cycle), then you might be ready to read your first article carefully, and try creating a draft. She was born in the unincorporated community of Garrettsville, which was a bunch of dwellings around a crossroads. After she was born, Hiram came into existance, and later the legal town of Garretsville came into existence. There is no need to go into all of these details in the Lucretia Garfield article. The first chemical structure given for glutamate is incorrect; this is the structure for glutamine. @Mrcc78578 We don't have an article for glutamate, that's a redirect to glutamic acid. The structure in the chembox is correct for that compound (see thumb here to the right) and more detail is given at Glutamic_acid#Ionization. Glutamine is the amino acid with a sidechain that terminates in CONH₂ and the article glutamine correctly shows this. Please be more specific about what you think may be wrong.
