On June 10, 2008, a an online dance contest called "The Greatest Online Dance Battle in the History of Mankind" featured this song in an entry by WhatTheBuck. The video featured "Pull Shapes" by the Pipettes, along with an edited compilation video of more than 200 videos from people dancing to the song. It was featured on the front page of YouTube and received more than 2 million hits in less than four days, winning the contest. |

The expression "pull shapes" is a British (en-UK) colloqualism that refers to the act of dancing. The video for 'Pull Shapes' is a reference to a scene from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls in which a character sings 'Sweet Talking Candyman'.

The expression "pull shapes" is a British (en-UK) colloqualism that refers to the act of dancing, in particular perhaps to the act of dancing sufficiently expressively as to make "shapes" with one's arms, legs, and overall motions on the dance floor. Use in context by Gwenno during an interview:"Pull shapes on the dance floor, you know? Like when you go dancing: 'You want to go pull some shapes?' Or 'I was pulling some shapes on the dance floor.' "
