Thinking of My Sponsors While Traveling Through Montana to State of the Word

Thanks to Mindsize, PostStatus, GoDaddy and Cloudways for sponsoring this DTW event.

It’s really amazing what can come to one’s mind when traveling on a train. Most of the second day of my trip was spent crossing the state of Montana. So naturally it made me think of my cool sponsors for this event.

Hey everybody. BobWP, here I am on the train and I am somewhere in Montana. It seems like I’ve been here all day. Been following me on the second day, this is… Yeah, Montana’s a big state and I think by the time I get out of here, it’ll be dark again.

So anyway a couple things I just wanted to talk about. I’m going to do a few of these short podcasts today and hopefully they’ll be out soon. One of the things is internet. I might talk a little bit more about the tech challenges of this later on, or maybe on the way back I’ll do that.

But what I really want to talk to you about today is… Okay. I screwed up. See, I’m not editing this, so you’re just going to have to deal with this.

What I wanted to share is I have four sponsors. Now bear with me here. I’m not going to just blab about their posting services or their plans they have for sale or whatever. I thought, how could I relate it to this trip?

And so let’s look at first, let’s look at Cloudways. They have awesome blue commerce hosting. Actually I just recently learned they have object cash pro, which is going to be huge for sites on Cloudways. But if I have to relate to what I’m experiencing right now, it would be the big sky state with lots of clouds. You know, that’s pretty lame, but it’s true. It’s something that I actually thought of Because I was looking, I pulled out a Cloudways cap I have and I thought, wow Cloudways. And then I kind of lost it after the ways. But anyway so Cloudways, do check out their hosting for sure.

The other one is Mindsize and Mindsize builds really awesome big WooCommerce sites. So again, I’m thinking big like Montana. I mean if they were going to build a WooCommerce site for Montana and sell everything in Montana, that’d be a big site. Except from what I’ve seen so far, Montana there’s not a lot of stores I’m passing by right now. In fact there are zero stores. In fact, there are zero houses where people may have an online store.

I did see one house and I was wondering if they did. And if they did, I was going to yell out and refer them to Mindsize. But needless to say that didn’t happen. But anyway, that’s kind of what I tied into Mindsize.

Now GoDaddy Pro Hub. This is where you can handle a lot of things and as I think about them, I think, okay GoDaddy Pro Hub lets you put in all your size, have all these awesome tools to build size for clients. Really, really great stuff. It’s perfect for builders. But one of the things I contemplated on was the train stations I’m going through and I’m thinking they’re like little hubs. They handle all these passengers going off and on. So some of them are pretty tiny. I haven’t gotten any pictures of the train stations. I haven’t jumped off and done that yet, which is kind of sad, but I kept thinking of GoDaddy Pro, so I didn’t. No seriously. So that’s kind of what… It’s a hub. It’s like I took off in the King station in Seattle, which is a hub for local trains and Amtraks around the country and be hit in Chicago and New York, which is the same. So they have a lot of trains to handle and GoDaddy Hub has a lot of sites they can handle.

And lastly, Post Status. Now Post Status is about the business community. And if you’re a WordPress business, you need to become a member there. That’s all there is to say about that. As far as the awesome stuff they’re doing. Now interestingly enough, I think of Post Status and I think of the WordPress community and surprisingly, I ran into somebody, I was wearing my Woo shirt and I can’t remember if she said what station she was getting off to take a picture at. Thought she actually was leaving. And she looked at me said, “Oh Woo. I love Woo.” And somebody else had said that in the dining room and it was one of the waiters and she kind of went “Woo!”. So I think she was thinking it was a different kind of woo, but that’s cool.

She said, “Yeah, I’m in the WordPress community and everything.” And then she kind of paused and looked at me and said, “Who are you?” And this was Susan Ramsey. Now I’m drawing a blank on her website, but look up Susan Ramsey on Twitter. And I’m going to try to grab lunch with her and maybe I’ll talk her into doing a podcast, which would be really cool. So we’ll see if that all works out.

And the other part of Post Status is tomorrow I’ll be in Chicago. Going in there, I’ll be in there for about six hours. Somebody’s going to be jumping on the train here. God, it’s like a Woo train here for sure. I never thought… It’ll be bizarre to think about it there will be three WordPress peeps in the same car on Amtrak tomorrow. And I think that is pretty freaking incredible.

I mean, what are the odds of that? So anyway, wrapping back around to Post Status. I guess it’s the fact that somebody will be jumping on tomorrow and kind of leaving it a surprise. Maybe some of you’ve guessed or not. But then we’re going to do a lunch, actually dinner I should say in Chicago. And that’s going to be at the Hard Rock in Chicago and we’re going to have a few people there. So I’ll be taking lots of pictures there. You’ll see a lot of familiar faces there. There’s about eight of us I think. And that’s going to be a blast.

One of the things that I keep wrapping around to Post Status is between all that stuff I just talked about it’s amazing that I can get on a train, somebody will jump on for an eight hour leg of the train trip. Somebody’s on the car that I happen to know. And then of course we do the dinner and then when we get to New York, of course, for the state of the word, we’ll be seeing lots of the community there.

But again, the power of community. It’s like how this all developed this idea of mine with like two weeks, I think, to spare or something, or about two weeks a little over two weeks, to get all planned and how it’s falling together in very bizarre ways. But anyway that’s it. That’s my contemplations on my sponsors. Hope you hung in because I just didn’t want to… You all know the those four sponsors and you know what they do and they do awesome stuff and I could talk about it and I might do some tweets and tie in some fun stuff of what they do with what I’m seeing.

But when I wanted to do this and thought about what could I bring in each sponsor of my experience that I’m going through right now. Luckily I’m in big Montana. Did I mention that? I did. And yeah, luckily I’m here. Anyway, so that’s very cool. So if you’re listening to this podcast and you haven’t been over to the site or you’re not on Twitter, I do have a landing page on the site. Go to Twitter, follow #WooTrainClan. That’s Woo Train Clan. People are loving that hashtag.

I’ll pop on here again soon. Tell you some more about this wonderful trip I’ve been doing and like I said, hopefully I have some really fun guests on several podcasts between now and when I get back on the 18th. So you know the drill. I mean here I am in Montana, which I mentioned several times, looking at the snow and the trees as I go by and I’m thinking, wow, do the Woo, you know? Woo, woo!

And if Jeff, if you are listening to this, that was a special little thing for Jeff Chandler over at WP Mainline.

Okay. Take care.
