Did you join us for the Trail Running Film Fest hosted by Alibi on April 11th?
For this Members only event, we had over 90 people join, including lots of new members, current Board Members and founding members. It’s fair to say that the excitement about the upcoming trail season was palpable. The conversations about the latest ski adventures left way for ideas about summer races and long adventures in the Sierras.
Some of the DPMR founding members in attendance, including Jenelle Potvin and Mike Tebbutt
After some catch-up time around a beer (courtesy of DPMR), and maybe a delicious mustache pretzel, it was time for the first set of films. The films were compelling with inspiring stories, art and stunning views. In case you were not already dreaming of summer adventures, this would have gotten you excited. The films also showed the increasing diversity of our sport and were sure to inspire you to push your limits and put your own struggles in perspective.
Full house of attendees, all captivated by the Trail Running Film Fest at Alibi Truckee
Intermission brought more time to catch up and the first drawings of our prize winners. Legend says that our MC, Steve Woo, is the Lucky Charm, but numerous people got to pick prizes from our generous sponsor Tahoe Mountain Sports (TMS).
Our own MC and Board Member: Steve Woo!!
Back to the films before continuing on the drawing for the big prizes. I was hoping to not be drawn in the early rounds, holding my breath for the BIG PRIZE. I had bought four more tickets, happy to both donate to the club and increase my chances! And if you’ve ever been to Frog Lake, you know the magic of spending a couple of nights in this special place. And… somehow… the innocent hand of Krissi pulled out my name!! So grateful for the Tahoe Donner Land Trust to have donated such an amazing prize: two nights for two people at the Frog Lake Backcountry huts!
Excited to catch up with everyone… And that was before the prize drawing 😉
After being out of town for a couple of months, I was looking forward to catching up with everyone. The energy from everyone reminded me of how much, while I love traveling and exploring, it’s nice to be back and see everyone! Obviously, winning the Frog Lag big prize added a cherry on top and I can’t wait to go explore, push myself and play in the mountains with all of you.
This event couldn’t happen without the generosity of so many people. Particular thanks to Martin, Angela, Diane, Kim, Steve and Bruna from the Board who fully brought the event together, our sponsors Tahoe Mountain Sports and Truckee Donner Land Trust, and Alibi Truckee for hosting us.
