External FAQ - Privacy Manager - End of Life (EOL)

LiveRamp has made the decision to discontinue LiveRamp Privacy Manager. This FAQ provides information about the end-of-life process for the product.

What is LiveRamp Privacy Manager?

Privacy Manager is an enterprise Consent Management Platform (CMP) for technologies on publishers’ websites and mobile applications. It enables every site and app to fully comply with the GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection and privacy regulations without any negative business impact.

Why is LiveRamp sunsetting Privacy Manager?

As the global regulatory landscape continues to evolve rapidly, Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) have become more common and accessible for publishers participating in LiveRamp’s Authenticated Traffic Solution (ATS). We've observed that the vast majority of ATS publishers are already utilizing one of the many other industry CMPs rather than LiveRamp's Privacy Manager. As we strive to make every media impression addressable and measurable, we find it necessary to refocus our efforts on enhancing other product capabilities to keep the ecosystem addressable.

What is the timeline for the Privacy Manager EOL?

All contracts for the use of Privacy Manager will terminate on or before June 30, 2024, which is also the sunset date.

What will happen to my data after the sunset date?

After the sunset date, all data associated with your account will be permanently deleted in accordance with our data retention policy.

Can I export my data before the sunset date?

Yes, you can export your data before the sunset date. The LiveRamp support team can provide guidance on how to do this.

Will LiveRamp continue to support Privacy Manager until the sunset date?

Will LiveRamp release any new features or enhancements for Privacy Manager before the sunset date?

During the transition period, we will continue to fix bugs that are considered blockers or urgent. We will be making some feature enhancements based on new regulations to help bridge our customers through this transition. Among these are GPP Support for the US National String (released June 29, 2023) and TCF 2.2 Updates (estimated to be released in September 2023). Important to note that LiveRamp will not be implementing state-specific support in Privacy Manager. Beyond that, requests will be assessed to determine if it is considered a bug or a new feature/enhancement.

Does this mean that LiveRamp will not be requiring consent for ATS publishers?

No, LiveRamp is committed to continuing both client and server-side consent processing technology to ensure that consumer privacy is upheld, and only data that meets local laws and regulations, including consent in the EU, can interact with ATS. With this announcement of the end-of-life process, LiveRamp will no longer be generating consent strings and providing capabilities to help manage consumer’s consent to publishers.

Does this impact a publisher’s ability to use ATS?

No, ATS is committed to ensuring that we build a new ecosystem for the open web that is grounded in consumer privacy. ATS will adhere to global consent frameworks when it processes data.

Will LiveRamp assist with the migration to a new privacy management solution?

Yes, LiveRamp is committed to assisting publishers with the migration process specifically in helping them obtain relevant vendor data out of Privacy Manager that can be used to transition to a new platform. LiveRamp will not assist in setting up a new CMP on behalf of publishers but have a network of partners who can assist.

What happens if we are not using Privacy Manager anymore or decide not to use it anymore?

If you are not using Privacy Manager anymore or decide not to use it anymore, please terminate your Console Account by going to Subscriptions > Account Termination and click Terminate account. This will delete your account and all associated data.
