Life as an Orifarm Student Assistant “Responsibility and a learning-friendly environment,” echoes Student Assistants Sarah Bedford and Frederik Krabbe Jepsen when asked what comes to mind when they think of Orifarm. Orifarm employs more than 60 Student Assistants. The eager and skilled students contribute with fresh perspectives and provide valuable support across our organization. Besides helping with tasks, students gain practical work experience, develop professional skills, and make connections. In return, they bring curiosity and open-mindedness. Frederik, who works in Procurement and studies Business, Language, and Culture at the University of Southern Denmark, highlights the fact that students are treated like any other employee. “I enjoy that Student Assistants receive the same treatment as other employees. For instance, we are part of Orifarm’s employee bonus scheme just like everyone else. We’re also actively included in decision-making processes, and our colleagues trust that we deliver on our own tasks. This approach helps us learn ‘how to go to work’,” he explains. Sarah, who studies Biomedicine and works in Regulatory Affairs, appreciates that her job is flexible and aligns with her studies: “Regarding work schedules and remote work, we enjoy equal flexibility as other employees. This allows us to balance work and studies even on a tight schedule and fosters a sense of respect and trust,” says Sarah Bedford and continues: “Most of my tasks are related to my studies. Traditionally, Biomedicine students end up in research, but I can’t see myself as a researcher. Here at Orifarm, I get to use my knowledge in a different way, and that’s exciting,” says Sarah Bedford. It’s safe to say that Student Assistants are great assets to Orifarm, and we’re proud of all the young minds contributing to creating healthy days for all.

When you focus on something, you cultivate its development. At Orifarm, we aim for our manufacturing site in Łyszkowice, Poland, to be CO2 neutral by 2032. Starting in 2022, we've concentrated on our 12,500m2 factory in Łyszkowice to inspire CO2 reductions across Orifarm. Our dedicated team has identified areas to cut energy use, such as improved insulation for pipes and reducing the number of unnecessary humidity meters. We've also installed solar panels to harness the sun's energy and are looking to install even more. “Continuously asking questions to challenge existing solutions is key to making the changes necessary,” says Marianne Kold Eggertsen, Sustainability Manager, on how the more than 400 colleagues in Łyszkowice achieve CO2 reductions. Early results are promising and show that CO2 emissions from electricity will be reduced by 17.4% this year – that’s equivalent to 1,125 tons of CO2 – while the photovoltaic farm will help reduce emissions by a further 14.5%, adding up to an additional 1,130 tons of CO2. Since 2022, our site in Łyszkowice has taken numerous steps to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, including: - A 50kWp photovoltaic installation - Replacement of lighting with LED - Insulation covers for plumbing and valve fittings - Regenerative air bypass from dehumidifiers - Heat recovery from air compressors - Increase in free cooling capacity - Installation of inverters for water station pumps - Implementation of reduced ventilation modes - Reduction of compressed air and nitrogen leaks - Reducing service water temperatures - Reduction of compressed air to 6.5 bar Together, we're lighting the way to a more sustainable future, one innovation at a time. 🌿🔋

Recognizing the importance of social and physical well-being in the work-life balance, we encourage our employees to unite around social initiatives – and they happily do! Here’s a few highlights of activities arranged by colleagues: 💻 Virtual baking sessions: In these sessions, colleagues from across departments join from their kitchens to bake treats and share their creations. 🎾 Padel Tennis tournament: For the past years, colleagues have arranged an annual local Padel Tennis tournament in Odense, Denmark, serving both fun and exercise. 🏃 Running races and running clubs: Every week, a group of colleagues from the local Orifarm Running Club in Odense, Denmark, come together for a run. Likewise, colleagues in Łyszkowice, Poland, recently joined a local running race together. These social initiatives provide platforms to unite around shared interests, contributing to a strong community feeling. To Renee Nielsen, who is an active participant in the local Orifarm Running Club in Odense, running with colleagues is a positive addition to her everyday work life: “Being part of Orifarm’s Running Club is not only about exercise – it is also a source of social interaction, motivation, and an opportunity to enjoy fresh air and a break from the workday. Because we all come from different departments, our running community provides an energy boost and helps me build connections outside my own team,” says Renee Nielsen, Senior Associate in Supply Chain. Thank you for contributing to a strong Orifarm community!

Thank You, NGIF, for helping make our Summer Party in Odense, Denmark, a success – truly a win-win collaboration! 🤸♀️ At Orifarm, we work to create healthy days for as many as possible. Not just for patients, but also in the communities we are part of. The collaboration with NGIF is a small, yet mighty example of how a win-win collaboration between company and community. More than 20 volunteers from the local sports club Nyborg Gymnastik og Idrætsforening, NGIF, played a crucial role in the success of our recent summer party at our headquarters in Odense, Denmark. Their participation has not only added joy and extra sets of practical hands during the evening, but also supported their efforts in raising funds for the sports club. “We rely heavily on raising funds from private companies like Orifarm. We plan to spend the funds raised in our football, handball, gymnastics & athletics, and table tennis divisions, particularly focusing on the youth divisions. Funding from local companies means that we can keep offering great sporting opportunities and events for our 1,400 members and the local youth in and around Nyborg, which located very close to Odense, where Orifarm resides,” says John Sørensen from Nyborg Gymnastik og Idrætsforening. NGIF also assisted at our Orifarm Christmas Dinner contributing to raise funds.

Does National Culture even matter in your work interactions? Yesterday we hosted an inspiring event focused on national culture for our employees. This special event was designed to encourage reflection on how cultural differences influence our interactions with colleagues, customers, and partners across the globe. We had the pleasure of welcoming Egbert Schram from The Culture Factor Group, who advises on comprehensive studies of how culture influences values in the workplace. Here are three key points highlighted during the event: 📝 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀: Different cultures have unique ways of expressing ideas and feedback. This is true for the directness in communications for example. Understanding these nuances helps in preventing misunderstandings and fostering clearer, more effective communication. 📝 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝘁𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲: What is considered polite or professional can vary significantly between cultures. For instance, this includes preferences for meeting structures and purpose. Being aware of these differences promotes a respectful and harmonious work environment, avoiding etiquette to stand in the way of the success of processes and goals. 📝 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: Cultural backgrounds can influence how decisions are made, whether through a hierarchical approach or a more collaborative process. Recognizing these tendencies allows for smoother collaboration and better decision-making outcomes. For colleagues who couldn't join us live, we offer an on-demand recording of the presentation, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow from this experience – and can return to the content to reflect on its points. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this event!
