Recently, we hosted a webinar with the Danish Agency for Digital Government (DAD). DAD have scanned 11,000 Danish websites and audited 200 of the websites. Here are the key findings of the 200 audited websites: 🔍 Premature Tracking: All websites placed tracking technologies, including pixels, before consent. 📦 Unclassified Cookies: 42.2% of the sites did not categorize their cookies by purpose, such as for statistics or marketing. 💻 Incomplete Cookie Banners: 27.6% lacked information in the banners, such as if data was shared with third parties. 🍪 Missing Cookie Banners: 18.1% did not hot have a cookie banner at all. All tracking that is not technically necessary requires the user's informed consent. During the webinar, the DAD shared that they plan on doing more audits. Other European Data Protection Authorities, like the UK's ICO and the Netherlands’ AP, have indicated the same. To ensure compliance, we recommend that you review and, if necessary, update your tracking setup and cookie banner. Right now, you can get a free 30-day trial for Cookie Information’s cookie banner through the link in the comments 🔗
