‘The Cleaning Lady’ Taps Daniel Cerone As Showrunner For Season 4

EXCLUSIVE: Fox and Warner Bros. Television have brought in veteran TV writer-producer Daniel Cerone (The Blacklist, Dexter) as executive producer and showrunner of The Cleaning Lady for the drama’s upcoming fourth season. He succeeds developer Miranda Kwok and Jeannine Renshaw who served as co-showrunners and executive producers on Season 3.

The Cleaning Lady, starring Élodie Yung, received a last-minute Season 4 renewal in May. The pickup came with a leadership change as Kwok and Renshaw departed amid a creative direction change for the series following the death of male lead Adan Canto and softening ratings post-strike. Kwok, who developed The Cleaning Lady based on an Argentine format, will serve as executive consultant on Season 4 while developing new projects for WBTV.

The series, hailed for its diverse cast as the first Southeast Asian-led drama, centers on Thony De La Rosa (Yung), a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon who makes a living as a cleaning service worker alongside her sister-in-law, Fiona (Martha Millan). After witnessing a murder, Thony is offered a job both as a cleaner and a doctor within a criminal organization that could pay well enough to help her son and her family.

Eva De Dominici, Kate Del Castillo, Santiago Cabrera, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, and Sebastien & Valentino LaSalle also star on the show, a co-production between Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment.

Cerone’s extensive resume includes stints as an executive producer on Dexter, where he also served as showrunner, The Blacklist, The Mentalist, Dirty Sexy Money as well as Constantine, based on the DC Hellblazer comic, which he co-developed and showran.
