To achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030, we need to increase climate tech investment by 590%. Despite Europe’s leadership in climate tech patents, funding is misaligned—mobility tech, which only addresses 15% of emissions, receives nearly half of all VC investment. Meanwhile, the tech capable of cutting 46% of emissions remains underfunded and still in development. At World Fund, it’s our mission to correct this imbalance, by focusing on climate performance potential and total avoidable emissions. Daria Saharova was featured in WIRED Magazine last year to highlight this crucial issue. She has also touched upon her column in STRIVE Magazine last week: https://bit.ly/4de3ZSI Read her thoughts on why proper capital allocation is vital for impactful climate solutions here 👉🏼https://bit.ly/49eGFm3

Venture Capital cannot thrive in a world where democracy is under constant threat - this is the same in Europe as it is in the US.
Some Silicon Valley VC's have expressed their support for Donald Trump in the upcoming US presidential election. Here is my full comment for Sifted: "The majority of venture capitalists are very opportunistic and have a very narrow-minded focus on quick returns. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with this, as our job is primarily to return as much capital as possible to our investors. However, the basis of our business is social freedom, a free market economy, a reliable justice system and democracy. If Trump becomes president, he will attack these four pillars, which will also massively harm the VC business. That's why I think the decision by venture capitalists to support this notorious liar and hate-monger is not only opportunistic but unfortunately also stupid."

At World Fund, we're big fans of RWTH Aachen University, therefore Daniel & I were thrilled to attend the annual #atec event last week. Awesome community with many excellent deep-tech and climate-tech start-ups! No surprise we have already invested into two #RWTH startups (aedifion & cylib), plus peopleIX & roofline in my private portfolio (via TS Ventures). The conference was great, amazing Malte Brettel, Leon Schneider & many others what a unique ecosystem you have built up here! Congratulations to all companies that made it to the final (where I was in the jury), in particular to Linda L. & Johannes (RecyCoal GmbH) for winning our 5.000 € World Fund cash prize. Well deserved! #atec2024 #VC #climatetech

We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our team: Theresah Kissmann has joined World Fund as an Executive Assistant and is part of our Berlin team 🌟 Theresah brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles at McKinsey & Company, Codefy and Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin Theresah believes that human-caused climate change is a matter of justice, as those who suffer the most from its effects are often the ones who contributed the least to the problem. Addressing climate change is not just an abstract concept but a critical effort to protect people 🌍 In her free time, Theresah loves hiking, walking her dog, baking, and planning events and surprises for her loved ones. We are excited to have you on board. Welcome Theresah 🙌

We had some great and insightful discussions at our third #ClimateTechMeetup organized together with our friends at Tech for Net Zero. Thank you Nadine Schimroszik, Handelsblatt for the moderation and to the speakers for their eye-opening insights Morgan Sheil, Arno Zimmermann, PhD and Dr. Lukas Köhler for his keynote on how we can get from millions to billions in funding climate tech. Here is our two main takeaways: ✅ Government and EU investments can bridge the funding gap by taking on higher risks, supporting early-stage projects rather than investing in them ✅ Regulations that price in environmental costs can make sustainable practices economically viable, drive the adoption of green technologies and promote fair competition Thank you as well to the team of the Future Energy Lab for hosting us 🙌 Happy to see so many of you attending! Stay tuned for the next one 🎇
