Nobel Laureates Donna Strickland and Gérard Mourou gave an energetic tour through the world of high-intensity lasers and their societal usages in an Agora Talk fittingly moderated by fellow “ultra-fast” Nobel Laureate Anne L’Huillier. ⚡ Missed this great Talk? No problem – a recording of this and other #LINO24 Sessions can be found in our Lindau Mediatheque!

An amazing experience! 🤩
Outstanding young researchers from the Max Planck Society at the 73nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2024 We are thrilled that 26 outstanding young researchers from the field of physics participated in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting taking place from 30 June–5 July 2024. Among them are 8 researchers who were already selected in 2020, but had to wait for this year’s meeting to attend in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pictures are from the academic dinner for all Max Planck fellows held on 2 July. We were very grateful to have Nobel Laureates Donna Strickland and Michael Kosterlitz as our guests. Since its foundation in 1951, the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings have developed into a unique international scientific forum. The annual meetings provide an opportunity for an exchange between different generations, cultures and disciplines. Once every year, around 30–40 Nobel Laureates convene in Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists: 600 undergraduates, PhD students, and post-doc researchers from all over the world. https://lnkd.in/eNwUXu_R https://www.mpg.de/career #LINO24 #science #career #networking #careeropportunities #research #PhD #Nobelprize #earlycareer

Nobel Laureate Alain Aspect was in Lindau for the first time this year since receiving the #Physics Nobel Prize in 2022. His talk at #LINO24 gave a fascinating overview of the discovery of quantum entanglement – from Einstein’s scepticism towards the implications of non-locality in quantum mechanics to the violation of Bell’s inequalities by a series of experiments that confirmed the presence of this “spooky action at a distance”. Have you been meaning to learn about the ideas and history of quantum mechanics or simply want to recap Professor Aspect’s Lecture? Watch the full recording in our Lindau Mediatheque!
