What's a simple syrup?

When making simple syrup infuse with a earl grey tea bag or even chamomile, then make gin tonic as recipe.

This is Perfect with No simple syrup actually, just 3-4 dashes Orange bitters(Regan's)

Took Toad’s advice and tried this without the simple syrup and with 4 drops of orange bitters. On a 90 degree day in Portland, Oregon, this hit the spot!

Excellent. I used a dehydrated orange slice. Nice and refreshing

I used a teaspoon of triple sec in lieu of simple syrup, but you really don’t need either one.

Made exactly as stated - excellent. I'm a gintonic traditionalist (what, orange instead of lime??) but I love this. Also tried without the simple syrup as others suggested, it's a fine cocktail that way too. (And allow me to recommend Greenhook Ginsmiths, if you'd like to shop local. I usually go with Beefeater but my liquormonger said I should try it, and he did not steer me wrong.)

Outstanding. We used Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic water, which has a mild, lemon-thyme/herbal/citrus flavor, and a generous strip of orange peel that we twisted over the drink and then dropped promptly in the glass. My husband had two!

How do you make a ribbon?

Sugar dissolved in water

I have long loved both gin and tonic and orange--I am finding that I may not be able to make a gin and tonic another way now. If you like this, check out the recipe for a plain martini. It includes orange bitters along with the vermouth and gin and has also changed my life.

where's the tonic?

What's a simple syrup?

Simple syrup: mix equal weights of sucrose sugar and boiling water. Stir until all is dissolved. Let cool before using. Once cool, store in refrigerator.

Equal parts sugar and water - put them in a sauce pan and bring to a boil, then cook till all the sugar dissolves. Let it cool before mixing into a drink.
