Summary

[edit]
Description Built in 1999, this contemporary building was designed by Valerio Dewalt Train as part of the Block 89 redevelopment project. Most of the building’s exterior is clad in red brick with punched storefront openings with aluminum mullions, with a sculptural curtain wall over the building’s main entrance with a subtly curved exterior and a suspended glass canopy at the base with long angled support members above, stone cladding flanking the entrance, large curtain walls a the top of the building, exterior pilasters that taper with a subtle curve towards the top, a curved section of the facade at the building’s east corner, and the facade of a 19th Century Italianate-style building integrated into the base on Pinckney Street. The building is one of several contemporary mid-rise buildings constructed in Downtown Madison during the late 20th Century and early 21st Century, which have altered the historic low-rise character that previously defined the city.
