Here at Kokoon we don’t use active noise cancelling, we use noise masking as it has been shown to be more effective at protecting sleep from disturbances.

Our headphones mask external noise with a combination of in-ear silicon sleeve design and coloured noise. We recommend that you take some time to find the perfect sized earbud sleeves as this creates a better seal in the ear, reducing airflow, allowing for better audio and will help to reduce disturbances further.

    For a few years now, my go-to travel and sleep headphones have been the Bose. These Kokoon buds are a new competitor!On the upside, they’re way less to carry, WAY more comfortable to sleep in, and have the white/gray color I like. When traveling, they tuck discreetly under my collar while wearing and use very little pace in my bag.On the downside, they don’t have the sound cancelling capabilities of the over-ear Bose. That does affect the overall sound experience for picky people like me (so, I took a star off for that).If your top priorities are comfortable sleeping and low bulk, the Kokoons are probably the better choice.

    I have had all of the sleep headphones and these check all of the boxes.
    I have tried the Bose sleep headphones and was so sad they didn’t play my podcasts or my audible sleep stories.

    These sleep headphones are a game changer! I have struggled with sleeping for sometime. The app sounds are wonderful and so helpful, especially since you are able to fade in the white noise once you have fallen asleep.     I was skeptical with the design of the product for sleeping, but I rarely noticed it. The only time it becomes an issue is if I want to flip my pillow and it catches behind my head. All in all I was surprised by how well I slept with them on.

    The sound quality is good, but I agree with other reviewers in that the earbuds kind of sit openly in the ear, in that there is no seal being generated to assist in blocking outside noises. I was able to make some adjustments to the earbuds and got closer to blocking those outside noises but it was still lacking compared to other products.

    As other reviewers have noted. There is a yearly subscription fee if you want to use to Kokoon app. I signed up for the trial to give it a shot. The app was easy to use and understand. The sleep data was nice but I already know how horribly I sleep thanks to my FitBit so it was really just redundant data. Ultimately, I ended up canceling the subscription during the trial. I intend to test some other sound applications that are free to see how it works out.

    One thing I really like is the battery life. I've yet to find the headphones powering off due to the battery being drained. I've tested other Sleepbuds and only these and the Bose Sleepbuds so far have been able to make it eight hours or more with consistent use. I prefer to have the sounds run all night and not turn off when I fall asleep. First, I am an incredibly light sleeper so it helps. Second, every time the sound turns off it wakes me up. So a consistent all night sound is what I'm really looking for.

    That now leads me to my biggest issue. I do not know if it is the headphones or the Kokoon app, but I have now had the headphones repeatedly disconnect and reconnect multiple times during the night, or it just briefly stops making sound for a couple seconds. This unfortunately wakes me up each time and is quite frustrating. I intend to test some other apps to see whether it was the Kokoon app or the headphones, and will update later. Maybe there is an issue with the headphones and my Pixel phone but I keep my phone on my nightstand so it definitely isn't a proximity issue.

    All in all, this might be a valid solution for some but I have my reservations for the loose open feel in the ear not blocking all the noise to the disconnection issues I am facing. I am excited for the Ozlo Sleepbuds and can't wait to test those, as they are essentially a continuation of the discontinued Bose Sleepbuds.

    On the upside, they’re way less to carry, WAY more comfortable to sleep in, and have the white/gray color I like. When traveling, they tuck discreetly under my collar while wearing and use very little pace in my bag.

    On the downside, they don’t have the sound cancelling capabilities of the over-ear Bose. That does affect the overall sound experience for picky people like me (so, I took a star off for that).

    If your top priorities are comfortable sleeping and low bulk, the Kokoons are probably the better choice.

    1. Doesn't connect to app on phone, it does connect to bluetooth, so can play musick; however, the app doesn't work
    2. Less comfortable than sleep10/sleep20 and Bose and Ozlo
    3. Terrible bluetooth, yet it has a huge area for electronics, the headband portion that they either failed to take advantage of or simply did a bad job.
    4. No active noice canceling again huge area for electronics and mics on the headband to help address that.
    5. The sound is the worst of any of the sleep options i have tried.

    All in all this is a dud and customer service refused to actually supply any help to resolve. They asked for pictures, which I sent, and then offered NO solutions (not even an email acknowledging that they were even investigating any issues.

    Really, really happy with these headphones. I sleep in headphones every night and I’ve always struggled to find a pair comfortable enough to wear sleeping on my side, until Kokoon. Most headphones are quite bulky but these are so light and compact, I barely notice I’m wearing them. They have a really nice texture too, soft and smooth, and the 5 different earbud sizes meant I could select the best size for my ears.

    I didn’t think I’d use the app much but I’m actually using it every night. I like tracking my sleep and the noise-masking feature is something I never knew I needed, but as a light sleeper, something I wish I’d known about years ago!

    Overall, this is a brilliant product and one I would definitely recommend.

    The design is actually very good and the unit is far smaller than I expected. The sound however is remarkably bad. Terrible, in fact. After 2 hrs I removed and am returning. Furthermore the app is behind a paywall and gives you no ability to control sound quality. Just a bunch of meditations and soothing sound recordings. The most crucial part being the sound was so incredibly bad and “tinny” that any desire for relaxation is immediately squashed.
