I love the yoto player so much! I love how there's parental controls in the app. I love the little pixel pictures it makes for the different cards. There's so much audio content, too. The brightness will auto adjust to the environment. It connected to my app easily. The instructions provided were really simple. It works great. The sound quality is perfect. I do wish there were other colors but I'll probably just put stickers on it.

We love this. I gave it to my boys (7&5) for Christmas. It’s the 30th and we’ve listened to almost all the free book samplings. My favorite is my 7 year old is asking to hear the rest of old classic chapter books like The Wizard of Oz, chronicles of Narnia, and James and the Giant Peach. I can tell we’ll be investing a lot into this thing, but honestly it’s worth it. It helps them want to go to bed and inspires them to love books.
The daily podcast is so cute. My 5 year old asks to hear the “would you rather” part. They keep it really interesting for kids.
The radio itself has great sound. I’m no sound expert, but it has a really good range and it’s very smooth.
My 5 year old has a British accent now and on our walk the other day he asked “why do people leave their rubbish in the street .” I still can’t stop laughing.

I have mixed feelings about the Yoto Player.

On the one hand, it is clearly durable, simple, and functional; but on the other hand, I had absolutely no idea what the heck it was until I bought it. They sell this as a magical media player solution for kids, but it was hard to tell what the hardware was or how it operated.

This is a cloud based 150 GB MP3 player which is controlled through the app on your phone. It only works via the cloud and will generally be looking to communicate with the cloud via your wifi. The cards act as playlists and what is on those playlists, you will have to buy those cards to get any meaningful description of what they put on them. Vague descriptions of things they have determined are good for a given category does not help me understand what those things are. If the makers were direct and told me what I was buying, I would not have bought the Yoto, but I can see why people like it. If you like the cloud and manage all of your content from your phone, I'm sure this would work for your situation. I bought it as virtually all of my friends like the Yoto and swear by it. The proprietary content on thier platform is woke and all about the current thing, whatever that may be. You can generate your own content if you like and associate whichever content you care for with a given card, so you can procure your own experience.

We purchased a yoto so that she could listen to music and control the songs. She figured out how it works within a day. It goes everywhere with us. My 2 & 4 yo LOVE our Yoto player, it is used daily! My 4yo chooses a night story or songs to play as she falls asleep every night. Daily Yoto radio is set to start at 7am each daycare day to wake them up. Can also play a range of white noise and sleep sounds via the app to play none stop. I’ve set the colour to be red at night time and green during day so it’s essentially being a sleep trainer clock too.

During the day, we will often take it to the lounge room/dining table and listen to music or stories during meal time or play. It’s really helps reduce our screen time to as often it was just on for background noise but now some days the tv is hardly on whilst the kids are up.

Adventure jacket is a must in my eyes. Unless it was sitting on a shelf not being moved. But as ours goes between bedroom and around house the kids are always carrying via the handle.

Also the make you own cards are fanatic, can borrow audio books from borrow box or other booking buying/borrowing sites and use for content for the borrow period. Or if you own albums can make them into cards too.

Highly recommend to everyone!

I have been using the app to play our cards in the car so he gets familiar with them. Hoping that will make it even better on Christmas when he starts playing with it himself. It seemed a bit intimidating at first because of how much this thing can do and how many ways there are to interact with it, but after a few minutes of playing around with it, I had it figure out and I appreciate the simplicity of the unit and the advanced features offered through the app to help you customize it for your kiddo.

We bought this for our daughter's fourth birthday present, and whilst she likes it, our six year old, nine year old and even our eleven year old love it more.

We bought the Peter Rabbit collection (we have the books and they have been well read over the years), this is a great purchase for the Yoto. Different voices per story, some famous, some not. It's expensive at £30 but has been a big hit so far.

We also bought traditional songs (has a lady bird on the front). These seem a hit with our kids, but they are US songs which don't exactly overlap. Baa Baa Black Sheep is different for example. It's cute though, so we won't send it back.

We have yet to try the personal recordings, this sounds like a fun thing do, have Daddy read some book favourites and have his voice come through the Yoto whilst he's at work!

The Yoto seems like an excellent birthday gift, as a shared gift or otherwise, I'd definitely encourage retiring your screens and getting them kids into this.

You need a WiFi connection to set up stories but after that you don't need it. That's a plus in my book too.
