Must disable most smart-ness to make battery last 1 day

I love the simple styling but for the thickness of it I was hoping for more battery life. I use it just to have the texting/calling notifications without needing to dig the phone out of my pocket. Got the battery to last about 36 hours between charging by turning off the always on display, all the health tracking stuff (I don't use that anyway), and using one of six built-in watch faces to see time, local temp, date, and battery %. I tried some of the 1000's of available watch faces they also suck down battery life. If you want to use it as intended be prepared to take it off to charge 2-3 times a day. But it did load WearOS 3.x and I got it half price so it will do until this fall and I see what else comes out.

One of my previous watches was a Skagen Falster 3. I sold it and went to the Galaxy 4 40mm and I really missed my old watch. Knowing that Fossil has improved the processor in the Falster gen 6 and noticing Amazon had a sale I purchased this watch. It is fabulous and I have read so many negative reviews I was shocked. Many people do not know how to adjust a wear watch when first setting it up. Wear / fossil should give better directions. Do this. 1. let the watch load and update its software. 2. go to the playstore app on the watch and scroll down to settings and shutoff auto updates. The watch will let you know when an update is available and you can choose when to download it instead of letting it auto download updates. 3. use a good battery saving watch face like the pixel minimal by Benoit Letondor. Glad I'm back to Fossil's Skagen Falster 6. Super fast, no pausing. Best watch to date. I'm selling my Galaxy 4 which had less battery life and took too long to charge. This Skagen watch is the fastest charging smartwatch!
UPDATE: Thought I would share more tips: I have read so many people complaining about battery life. Then I read they have their watch face set to always on! AOD will drain your battery, if you must see your watch face on then use the tilt to wake feature and shut AOD off. A flip of your wrist each time will turn on your screen. Personally, I use touch to wake. Another battery saving mode is to make sure the OK google voice is off. Better to activate OK Google assistant by holding the middle power button. Lastly use the extended mode , set the bluetooth schedule on during the day with your wifi on and bluetooth off at night and wifi left on. The builtin wellness app will give you your sleep data and the watch will only use 10% battery all night.

Inadequate battery life

I've used a Falster 3 for a couple of years and decided to upgrade to the 6th gen when my battery life dropped under a full day. Sadly, the new model is even worse in that regard.

Pros:
+ Looks
+ Material quality
+ Band availability, although my old gen 3 bands don't fit the new one (22mm vs 20mm)

Cons:
- Battery life is less than a day in normal conditions, half a day if I use GPS at all.
- Settings don't seem to save properly, usually requiring a restart or two before they are memorized.
- My favorite face from gen 3 is no longer available.

It's still a very stylish watch that can go with everything just by changing the band. However, the poor battery life kills it for me.

Welcome to the world of Skagen! Did you want to turn off the 'always on screen' feature, or turn off the ringer? Better not ever charge it, because those settings will get reset. When you try changing power modes, they won't stick. Custom power mode is not longer a feature in the updated software, so I have to redo multiple settings pretty much daily. Absolute garbage software, these are basic features that should be flawless from the start.

Got this updated Skagen and we quite happy for a few months. I could save the face I wanted, it sync'ed with Google Fit for my steps and heartrate... But then the battery was getting less than a day, so I upgraded the watch software (as suggested). BAD NEWS BEARS. You now must interface with the buggy and super-brain-dead Skagen App instead of the super simple and stable Google App. The Skagen app won't always sync with the watch. And it only sync's with Google Fit when the wind is blowing southeast. The watch is now garbage.

To be honest I really dislike the common smartwatches because of the looks, they usually look really toyish and really don't go with every style, but this is really nice. And even though it has a digital screen it goes really well with the strap and the design. It meassures everything that it says with of course the accuracy that a non medical device would do. The only thing that dissapointed me is that when upgrading it from wear os 2 to wear os 3 (which was the day after I got it) it lost some functionalities and the ones that affected my use are google assistant and the chance to customize the buttons in a more complete way. It's a bit smoother with wear os 3 but if I could I would rollback to wear os 2 also because I had to sync it with my phone using the skagen app instead of the wear os app as it was at the beginning. But aside of that issue, it works great, I don't plan and I don't use it as a smartphone to do everything from there, just like an accessory to measure a couple of stuff, hear music while at the gym, and helps me while using maps to avoid having to look in the phone. So with this use, I have had more than a day of battery using the daily mode.
