Me

Dr. Cheng Zhang currently leads the machine learning theme in Microsoft Research @ 198 Cambridge.
She has extensive experience as an M2 research manager and has spearheaded several machine learning projects that deliver both cutting-edge research and real-world impact. She works closely with both internal and external product and business teams to align research with their needs.  Her research interests span multiple machine learning domains, such as deep generative modeling, causal machine learning, large language model alignment and sequential decision making. She is also active in the machine learning community, organizing and participating in various conferences and workshops, including being the program chair for NeurIPS 2024.
