Posting Jobs and Opportunities

The Gordon Career Center & Handshake

The Gordon Career Center (GCC) has used Handshake, an online recruiting platform for higher education students and alumni, since 2016 to support access to career opportunities and education for Wesleyan undergraduate students and alumni. The GCC is regularly involved in reviewing and implementing product updates to enhance students’ experience on the platform. More than 90% of Wesleyan students create a Handshake profile. Profiles include helpful information for employers such as resumes approved by GCC staff, personal interests, industry preferences, and experience details.

Getting Started with Handshake

Our employer partners use Handshake to engage with students and our office by posting opportunities and events, viewing student profiles, and communicating with potential applicants. It is essential that any verifiable employer can create an account; Handshake has a free Core account, as well as premium membership.

How to Post a Position

Post full-time jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities on Handshake, Wesleyan’s career management platform, free of charge. Every position we promote is posted to Handshake to support access to career opportunities for all of our students. Leading employers of all sizes–including Fortune 500, startups, and nonprofits–leverage Handshake to recruit, source, and connect with our diverse and talented community of students and alumni.

Create a user account (click here to learn how), connect with your organization and Wesleyan University, and follow these instructions to begin recruiting Wesleyan students and recent alumni. If your employer is new to Handshake, follow these steps to create a company profile during the registration process. Once you complete the registration process, you will become a pending employer on Handshake. By creating an account on Handshake, employers agree to adhere to our recruiting policies.

To be approved on Handshake, employer registration must include:

  • Verifiable organization name, location, and email and website addresses
  • Organization size and industry
  • Point of contact information including full name and email address that matches the domain of the organization’s website (generic names, such as “campus recruiter” will not be approved)
  • Clear and completed organization description

Once the Gordon Career Center has approved your employer registration request, you will be able to post and promote opportunities, manage your applicants, request virtual interview schedules, and more.
