Major(s): English, Film Studies
What is your current role? What was your journey in arriving there?
I work as a freelance director and producer in both narrative film and commercial. I have also worked in film festival programming and am currently an MFA student in Directing/Screenwriting. After graduating in the pandemic, I searched for remote work for festivals, producing for podcasts and working with nonprofits/startups — basically anything I could get my hands on.
What do you enjoy about your work? What challenges does your industry currently face?
I love storytelling and feel so fortunate to be able to study and work towards a creative career in film. Being at an MFA program full-time while also trying to pursue work in the industry, is difficult to juggle — it often feels like the creative work we do as filmmakers is entirely separate/parallel to working and having stability/mobility in the industry.
How did your time at Wesleyan influence your career choice/journey?
Studying film and learning within the theater community at Wesleyan completely shaped who I am as an artist today. It gave me a foundation of knowledge, a deep perspective on what we can bring to the table, and most importantly an artistic community that seeks to bring each other up.
