Edmonton Oilers player Leon Draisaitl and Celeste Desjardins are engaged! See pics from his stunning seaside proposal: 'The easiest yes'

Edmonton Oilers centreman Leon Draisaitl is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Canadian actress Celeste Desjardins. The 28-year-old athlete announced his engagement on Thursday by sharing a carousel of photos from the seaside proposal in Spain.

Desjardins also shared the happy news on Instagram, writing: "The easiest yes. I love you forever."

Fans and friends flooded the comments with supportive messages congratulating the couple's latest milestone.

Lauren Kyle, the fiancée of Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, commented: "Crying. So happy for you guys! Love you both!"

Emma Barrie, the wife of Victoria, B.C.-born Nashville Predators defenceman Tyson Barrie, wrote: "Aww congratulations! Enjoy every minute of the bliss bubble."

While the details of how Draisaitl and Desjardins first met aren't widely known, they hard-launched their relationship in 2018 when the 28-year-old Sudbury, Ont.-born actress made their romance Instagram official.

By June 2018, she was sharing photos of the couple vacationing together, captioning one post, "Spain with my love."

Since then, Desjardins has become a familiar figure among the Oilers' wives and girlfriends. She has developed a close friendship with Connor McDavid’s fiancée, Lauren Kyle, and is even a bridesmaid in Kyle's upcoming wedding.

Last month, Desjardins shared a carousel of candid photos from Kyle's bridal shower with a heartfelt caption.

"The best night celebrating our girl. Lauren, you are so easy to celebrate. I am so lucky to be by your side through this very special time in your life," she wrote. "I’m counting down the days to watch you walk down the aisle. You are going to be the most beautiful bride. Love you."
