We raised exactly this issue Svante cites on the CleanTech North webinar last night that focused on the CCUS Tax Credit. While we did not cover the Manufacturing tax credit we did dip into the lunacy that the most beneficial of the green economy tax credits (CCUS at up to 60%) does not have a matching Manufacturing tax credit (unlike, say, energy generation or storage) to support the CANADIAN SUPPLY CHAIN for that technology! This may be oversight, but announcements that are not delivered on or calibrated/revised for months lead to uncertainty… and business hates uncertainty; there is enough of it in the high risk tech scaleup world. This gap MUST be closed immediately and CleanTech North will continue to advocate for that. Hopefully before we lose all our rising stars in #CCUS like Claude Letourneau, ICD.D and Svante…

Decentralised Energy Canada (DEC) and the City of Medicine Hat launched the Energy Innovation Challenge, a three-year, $2.4-million initiative aimed at empowering small and medium-sized Canadian businesses to overcome commercialization obstacles and bring their innovations to market. The Challenge was launched to support small businesses with promising decentralized energy solutions. They like so many BIG business pay their fare share of taxes….like close to $100M in penalty fees for what ends up being extracted thermal coal and our federal government has no problem turning a blind eye….and their left hand out. Think about all the jobs they create for First Nations, and every nationality in between and taxes lets not forget they pay their share, they employee thousands, all over, how about in a small community like Merritt BC, look at that place on the map, ask your self could you live there? Doubt it, we all like certain luxuries now don't we, hey, they have a Walmart and a Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons and McDonalds and even Dollar Store ( don’t laugh …ask your self did you buy shares pre covid ) cause those of us that did are laughing now…. Will Glencore have this bestowed upon them once they close? They are after all committed to opening a corporate Head Office in Vancouver….. Colonial Coal, I may have understated the number of jobs coming to Tumbler Ridge….they will require construction workers to build homes, they will require more services on the medical side, just drive through any small town and see what Tumbler Ridge does not have….like a Tim Hortons…;) Tumbler Ridge is closer to Alberta than it is the ocean or the United States, and yes, just to the east in Alberta what moves the Hinton economy….Coal Mining ! Why are jobs so important to First Nations in our province. There are 203 First Nations in British Columbia. There are currently 574 federally recognized Indian Tribes in the United States…..So what is really important to Ebby and Falcon why do they just keep meeting with David, interesting perspective, so now ask, “What’s in Davids wallet?” “JOBS” What needs to be done, to increase Canada’s productivity? I'd like to express my sincere appreciation to the leadership teams at Calgary Economic Development and Tourism Calgary for the refreshed Calgary brand framework, Blue Sky City. Over the past 20 years of my career, I've been fortunate to have been in a position to lead efforts to help build aspects of this place that were not, at the time, "core" to how the city sold itself: arts & culture, craft brewing, and now tech. Under the two previous iterations of the brand framework, it was not easy to tell the inspiring stories I encountered on a daily basis. It was frustrating because I had a front row seat to the things people checking out our city wanted to know about. I'd regularly hear "I know you don't have much of a culture scene/brewing scene/tech scene, but..." And after I was able to share the real (exciting!) story, inevitably eyebrows would raise and they'd give Calgary another chance. A single person telling stories one at a time just isn't scalable. I'm tired of fighting for more recognition of "Calgary's best kept secrets!" I want our artists, brewers and brilliant and hard working tech founders to be front page news ALONGSIDE the energy sector that has brought us so much prosperity, and the Stampede which has been putting us on the global culture and entertainment map for over 100 years. Arts & culture and tech especially are key to a diverse, growing, inclusive economy and the shared prosperity it generates. It doesn't really matter whether you personally liked the old slogan/s or not, they really didn't work on a number of dimensions. For example, years ago, I saw credible research that showed that "Heart of the New West" might as well have said "Heart of the Old West" in our core markets across North America unless you *already knew the city.* It didn't dispel stereotypes, it reinforced them. As for "Be Part of the Energy," the recent declining sentiment research on the city we experience as dynamic and growing just galvanizes my call to action. As shown by the signatories to the Op Ed below, Blue Sky City has already unlocked a commitment to collaborate from groups that previously felt marginalized in the Calgary story. In over 20 years around these tables, I have never experienced this level of collective enthusiasm. It is a game changer. I've also never been as enthusiastic about leading an organization that is part of this coalition. I'm excited about how we'll be able to spotlight the people in our tech and innovation ecosystem that are building the economy of the future. These efforts will help us attract talent, investment and customers for Calgary tech. If you have a stake in the future of Calgary, find a way to get behind this collective effort to better tell our story. The more of us that join in, the more impact we'll have, the more minds we'll change, the more people, visitors and investment we'll attract. And thanks to the inclusive leadership that built this framework, we're all invited! #BlueSkyCity

Chuffed to announce Varme Energy's strategic partnership with Gibson Energy and PSP Investments-backed Canada Growth Fund (CGF) for the development of the first waste-to-energy with carbon capture facility in Canada. Our project, located on Gibson land in the Alberta Industrial Heartland, will be diverting Edmonton's municipal waste otherwise destined for landfill, avoiding methane release and capturing the CO2 for permanent sequestration. The energy we generate from this process will be net carbon negative. The groundbreaking carbon offtake contract entered into with CGF will ensure the financeability of the project while at the same time allowing us to participate in the voluntary market for Bioenergy with CCS (BECCS) credits, monetising the project's atmospheric carbon removal credentials. I strongly believe that entrepreneurship and innovation are the two things that we need to nurture and encourage in order to drive collective wealth creation for all Canadians in the coming decades. The recent federal budget policies about capital gains are going in the opposite direction as they will have a direct effect to slow down private investments in such a critical sector - the knowledge economy - and ultimately slowdown innovation and the little efforts that could help us bring back Canadian productivity to where it must be to compete on the global stage. This is not a tax on the wealthy, it’s a tax on innovation and entrepreneurship. I encourage all founders, entrepreneurs and investors to sign the letter below.

Troilus Announces Sale of Select Non-Core Properties to Comet Lithium and Provides Board Update MONTREAL, July 15, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Troilus Gold Corp. (“Troilus” or the “Company”, TSX: TLG; OTCQX: CHXMF; FSE: CM5R) announces that it has entered into an agreement with Comet Lithium Corporation (“Comet Lithium”) for the divestiture of its non-core properties, the Mercator, Monarch and Elmer East projects located in the James Bay Region (“The Transaction”) (See property locations in Figure 1). The Company would also like to announce the resignation of Dr. Eric Lamontagne and the appointment of Mr. François Biron, former General Manager of the Troilus Mine, to the Board of Directors (the “Board”). The sale of the non-core claims to Comet Lithium supports the company’s goal to focus solely on the development of its flagship Troilus Gold-Copper project located in North Central Quebec while maintaining exposure to the exploration upside of these properties. Details of the Transaction: Pursuant to an agreement dated July 12, 2024, Comet Lithium has agreed to acquire the Mercator, Monarch and the East Elmer projects from Troilus in exchange for 1,500,000 Consideration Shares to Troilus at an issue price of C$0.315 per Share (the “Issue Price”). The transaction will result in Troilus owning approximately 6% of Comet Lithium. In addition, Troilus has been granted a 2% Net Smelter Royalty (“NSR”) on each of the Mercator, Monarch and Elmer East projects. Comet Lithium will have the right to repurchase 1% for $3 million on each of the projects respectively. In addition, Troilus has been granted a 24-month participation right, allowing the Company to participate in any equity financing to maintain its equity percentage in Comet Lithium, subject to certain conditions, including Troilus Gold holding 750,000 common shares of Comet Lithium at the time of the equity financing.
