When working with Partners and Employment, Michael Ruda is always hoping for a win-win-win. When that happens, it means that Partners finds work for a client, that client gets some job experience and Michael’s team at The Brick North in Regina gains a new employee. “A lot of these guys come in really wanting to do their best and show off what they can do,” says Michael, the store manager. “When you’ve got that enthusiasm and work ethic, it’s a challenge for the rest of the team to keep up. So it creates an excellent culture.” Working with Partners for the past few years, The Brick has welcomed several clients through their doors. The second of those that Michael ever offered a job to is still working in the store’s warehouse, has won employee of the month multiple times and they’re now looking for new challenges to help him continue his growth at The Brick. “It’s been such a fantastic experience,” Michael says. “People come in eager to work, really want to learn and do their best work. We love that enthusiasm, and you don’t get that from all employees.” But it’s also Michael’s enthusiasm for the work Partners does that has made the connection with The Brick so successful. Besides simply offering supported employment opportunities and information, he also goes beyond what Partners asks of him, conducting mock job interviews with clients so they get that important experience. So to other employers, he simply says, “Do it” if they’re considering working with Partners. “We’re giving someone some experience they can parlay to other areas,” Michael says. “It’s a good feeling and, ideally, it’s that win-win-win.” Thanks to Michael and the entire team at The Brick North!
