Canada's telecom regulator, the CRTC, has introduced a new rule requiring music streaming services to allocate 5% of their revenues to funds for developing Canadian content, including support for traditional radio broadcasting. This is expected to raise CAD $200 million annually. The tax is more stringent than France's, which is significantly lower. Critics argue that this "discriminatory tax" unfairly benefits radio stations and Canadian broadcasters, leading to resistance from major streaming platforms like Spotify, which view it as a protectionist measure. https://lnkd.in/dVDg6-Qv

"Canada focuses more on travel and tourism business to boost economy." Canada's tourism sector jumped to 9th place in the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, up from 15th. This rise is due to Canada's diverse attractions, vibrant cities, and strong MICE industry. New pop-ups like Stacktx further boost its appeal. With stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and world-class venues, Canada is set to remain a top travel destination. https://lnkd.in/gW4h-FZU
