Favourite  I absolutely loved this book by Levy Rozman (aka YouTube phenomenon Gotham Chess). Everything about it is perfect: the tone of voice, how it takes you from absolute beginner to actually getting somewhere in the 1500 Elo range, the didactical approach it takes, the design and quality of the publishing, all of it. The book has done three things for me: it has shown me what an amazing (and brutal) game chess can be, it has turned me into a way better chess player (I now actually have some idea of what I am trying to do in the larger scheme of things), and it has also confirmed that I know shit all (while making me eager to learn and practice more). Rozman has clearly spent a lot of time teaching chess, as his explanations are crystal clear and the book has a very sensible structure. From now on I will (if I have the time) use his CCA checklist to look for checks, captures, attacks, while also trying to understand what my opponent wants. I loved the fact that Rozman is willing to show his own flaws, with the book finishing with some stupid mistakes where he doesn't follow his own advice (Fischer wouldn't do that). Even though I have finished the book, I still have a long way to go in finishing all the free practice studies and drills that the book comes with (accessible via QR codes leading you to Rozman's online chess platform Chessly). Highly recommend.
